SYNOPSIS

A love-triangle complicated by sexuality and a future domineered by genetic engineering. Simon and Oliver are longterm partners. When they're told they're being relocated to a ghetto outside of the city, their fate seems grim. Enter Eden, the daughter of a wealthy geneticist who has been in love with Simon for years, who offers Simon an escape.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

In November 2011, "The Naturalist" went into production. We had an immensely successful shoot. However, on the fourth day of shooting, our lead actress became very sick and had to be rushed to the ER. This meant that the second half of the shoot - in which we film the grand finale of the film on location in Washington, DC - had to be cancelled.

Thankfully, Alena is back on her feet and we are looking forward to finishing this film! To do this we need your help. Filmmaking is an incredibly expensive art form. A majority of our budget goes to covering the basic needs of our volunteer crew: lodging, meals, and transportation. In addition, we have expenses for equipment, art direction, and wardrobe. We are also looking to raise funds for post-production and distribution, including special effects and festival fees.

WHY THIS STORY?

This summer, New York was engaged in a heated debate over the approval of same-sex marriage.

Sexual orientation is the subject of intense debate. The Bachmanns and their like tend to throw around the notion of “choice” in regards to sexuality. The “choice” idea has implications neither side can definitively argue. Are variations in sexuality caused by genetic, psychological, or environmental factors? Is human sexuality strictly defined or more fluid? For all that we do know, we know startling little about sexuality and what determines sexual behavior.
