Thank you for checking out my project. It's a satire about a current water battle. The players are the Southern Nevada Water Authorities against the ranchers and the Goshute tribe who live in Snake Valley and Spring Valley. These valleys are located on the Nevada/Utah border. The SNWA is planning to pipeline this region's underground water to Vegas. This action would destroy the beauty and life of these areas, further effecting the air quality in Salt Lake City, and possibly damaging the Great Basin National Park and surrounding areas.
There are seven acrylic paintings in this storybook style series. In the first three paintings I've turned Lehman Cave, which is at the entrance of Great Basin National Park, into 'The Vegas Club'. My loud pushy guests have to say a speakeasy password at the cave entrance door and then take a slide down into the cave. The third illustration is the bar. Instead of the people becoming drunk on bootleg booze, the Lehman Cave's Vegas Club is drunk from the water....Snake Valley and Spring Valley water.
I'm planning to paint four more illustrations in this storybook fashion and hopefully show them in Baker Nevada (a town at the entrance of Great Basin), Las Vegas and Salt Lake. I want to illustrate the roulette table, show girls, dance floor and the surprise ending to all this madness!. My goal is to have them completed by October. If you want to help me out with this art project, I could sure use it and would love to work with you. This is the time!
