The Beverly Morgan Park Community Choir is a non-profit performing on the south side of Chicago since 1999. Sponsored by the Beverly Morgan Park Community of Churches, the Choir draws members from over 25 different churches. We bring together all races, faiths and ages as we praise God through song. Over 65 participants are involved in one spectacular concert each year, from professional vocalist and musicians, part-time semi-professional singers, and amateur choir members, as well as a professional accompanist, guest musicians, and instrumentalist.
Membership is free and the majority of choir members donate not only their time and talents but also money. However, it costs roughly $180 per singer to stage the concert. We rely on donors, like you, to fill the gap. Our concert will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday April 2, 2017 at St. Cajetan Church in Chicago. The theme is "One Voice" which stresses our unity. Our special guests will be the Chatham Choral Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Charles Hayes, who will join the Choir for the "Gospel Trinity" as well as perform several pieces on their own. Selections include a mix of classical, gospel, and praise music. This once-a-year concert is free to the public, so please help us with your donation to spread the joy of music in our community.
Risks and challenges
There are certain risks and challenges to any program. The concert date - April 2, 2017 - has been set. The rehearsals have been ongoing and the choir sounds amazing! Many news faces this year are joining long-time members.
However, the Choir aspires to a high quality of performance. Some of the challenges are to secure funding for music, rehearsal and concert space, and professional leadership. In the end, community commitment and dedication to funding the project will make our concert on April 2nd simply spectacular.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
