arose from a shared thirst to create and combine layers of haunting guitar, thunderous drums, spooky feedback, trance-like-native-american toms, psycho slide and passionately delivered vocals. bubbleGUN is a duo: Wendy Shuey (drums, vox) and Jeff Sebens (guitar, keys and vox). We have been together for 3 years and without a doubt this album captures our true dynamic power. We have not stopped to eat or sleep. We have 14 songs already tracked. Now we need to finish the mixing and mastering processes. This our absolute bare minimum goal: a completely finished digital album which will be available in digital format CD as well as e-gift CD. However, our true final goal is to reach not only the mixing & mastering stages, but also to raise funds for the physical CD layout, design, replication, printing, and distribution so that you will have an actual hard copy with beautiful layout and artwork on retro stock! Additional overage will also enable us to cover transportation costs to play shows because, well, we like to play shows!
This is our passion and bubbleGUN is our labor of love. We are insanely excited about this album we've been working so hard on and believe it will make you want to soar into the desert, build space ships and call your mother (not in that order).
In 2011, we recorded our debut album appropriately titled Greatest Hits Vol. I. Luckily it was placed in several tv series soundtracks on mtv, vh1, and nbc/universal networks. Here's our PREVIOUS debut album artwork/layout design, 2011, 3-fold:

Inside the album, The Space in Between:
If our first album was in the genre of desert-sex-rock-alien-car-crash, this latest album, The Space In Between, travels far beyond. We've ramped up our level of craftsmanship and song writing with 14 brand new songs created entirely in Taos, New Mexico. Our power-driven opening track, "Meet Your Maker", the infectious "Butterflies Must Die", and the haunting "The Space In Between" will have you roped in. Diving into the heavier tracks "You’re Gonna Be The Death Of Me", "I Took A Bullet For You" and "Evol" kicks the album into bombastic overdrive.
We share vocals and lyrics throughout the record. Wendy's vocals bring a powerful female energy to Jeff's overdriven guitars and broken piano parts throwing this album into a new category of something like a hard core version of The xx.
More about us:
I was born & raised in Spokane, WA and started playing guitar by ear as a kid. Now I play methodical but with danger. A lover of all genres of music from Beastie Boys to Beethoven, Massive Attack to The Clash and Johnny Cash to Prince, I've written hundreds of songs, featured on dozens of recordings such as Kyle Vincent, Electrik, Maesa Pullman, and Michael Doman; and play a variety of instruments. My philosophy about music is It's about the notes NOT played. The feel is the most important thing.. the spook and the haunt. Wendy and I are a musical match made in heaven because we can literally read each others minds musically. WHOAAA!
I've been a drummer/percussionist since age 10 and was born & raised in Charlottesville, VA. I've performed and recorded albums in many bands, toured all over the map, and perform live with musicians such as Beck for MOCA Los Angeles, The Boredom's 88 Drummer Experiment, among many others. I'm also a lead video editor in the broadcast industry since 1988 for networks such as mtv, vh1, discovery, nbc/universal and more. I've lived in NYC, LA and currently reside in the high desert mountains of Taos, New Mexico. Here I'm able to edit and crank out tons of music with my favorite project-to-date, bubbleGUN. I'm grateful collaborating with my bandmate, Jeff. This kinda musical chemistry is unmatched.
Behind the scenes:
If we raise the budget amount we will spend the next two months finishing the mixing of The Space In Between at Frogville Studios and the mastering both full version and an instrumental version at Howie Weinberg Studios (the master of mastering). Digital downloads will be ready in September. If we exceed our bare minimum, we are able to fuel our true final goal - a printed hard copy CD. In this case, we would be able to create a beautiful hard copy album on retro card stock similar to old vinyl records (it's eco too!). It would be ready to ship no later than early October. And well worth the wait - our team will be hard at work with the artwork, photography, design and layout. Then it will be sent off to the printing and replication house! (Posters, stickers & tees may be shipped sooner - stay tuned)
We've priced our project at the absolute bare minimum. If we raise more, we'll be able to produce a hard copy album, using retro card stock like old vinyl records, and design/shoot/create all artwork and layout for the album. Overage over the hard copy costs will also provide fuel (literally) for live shows! Here's a breakdown of what is involved:
- Production costs - includes marketing team, video production, tee shirts, and hot shorts, posters, bumper stickers for pledges.
- Kickstarter/Amazon Fees - Roughly 8%-10% of final funding.
- Production of album - These rates vary depending if we reach bare minimum which includes mixing engineer and mastering engineer only. However, if we exceed the bare bones minimum goal, we not only use the minimum budget for the mixing engineer and mastering engineer, but also for the artwork & design team; printing; disc replication to deliver a crafted hard copy album.
- Shipping & shipping supply - Another chunk, depending on amount shipped, and number of international orders.
- Taxes - self-employed rates apply.
- Buffer Amount - necessary for ANY Kickstarter. Set aside for dropped pledges, lost books, refund requests, and any miscalculation.
More about the kickstarter process:
Kickstarter is a unique experience differing from the usual online buying process. It is not simply a matter of choosing an item and paying for it -- By pledging, you are joining us in this adventure of creating and completing this project. We promise you the results of this rockin' musical journey will be an album overflowing with music that fuses the light and the beauty of the dark. It will be an album poured from our hearts (and guts) that can be enjoyed, shared, or gifted.
How to get started:
- Step 1. Decide which Pledge description you like, taking note of any international shipping estimates.
- Step 2. Create a Kickstarter account, determine payment method.
- Step 3. Wait and see what happens! If our campaign is successful, in 30 days your account will be charged and your reward is secured. If our campaign is unsuccessful, then you will NOT be charged.

Risks and challenges
We realize that waiting several months to receive a finished digital album requires a good amount of patience so we are mastering in the U.S. to ensure a speedy turnaround. If we exceed our bare minimum, we will be printing the CD in the U.S. as well to ensure a speedy delivery of the product.
Shipping time may vary slightly. If we reach over the bare minimum, depending on the number of pre-orders that come in, we may be mailing CDs throughout September and possibly into early October as the latest possible ship date. If necessary, we will hire a team of people to work with us, should the volume become more than 2 people can handle.
We will try our best and keep you informed on our tour dates. However, they are scheduled at the mercy of our wallet. We hope to perform live in a town near you, but we cannot guarantee the time frame, and we will surely keep you updated with our tour dates! Please also keep in mind: occasionally tour dates or venue cancellations can occur due to unforeseen circumstances.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
