SteamCraft RPG: The Supplements Edition
In August of 2012, the SteamCraft RPG was successfully funded on Kickstarter. Since then, we completed our rewards and have the books in stores around the US and other parts of the world. We have also launched support products. We are now at a point where we want to ramp up production of new products for SteamCraft, and that is where you come in. Backing this project will help us get these products into stores at a faster pace.
In the spirit of Gibson and Sterling's The Difference Engine, SteamCraft takes you to an alternate, dystopian world where gears, goggles, and airships dominate life. The Industrial Age is joined by an early Information Age, combining into a gritty world where corporations use technological advances to amass hordes of wealth and power at the expense of the working class. Meanwhile, technomages' ability to create by mixing magic with machine lurches ahead of their wisdom to control their creations. Just as Shadowrun mixes cyberpunk and fantasy, SteamCraft mixes steampunk and fantasy. The scientific wonders of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells mix with fantasy elements like dwarves and elves. The result is a world filled with ancient horrors as well as man-made beasts, such as Clockwork Beholders. The game mechanics use an intuitive percentile system. The game is skill-based and does not have classes or levels. Players can create any type of steampunk character they want using our point-based character creation system.
Those receiving a physical copy of the Wake the Dead Trilogy now have the option to have the stretch rewards at $2000 and above turned into physical products. Simply pay the printing and shipping costs to DTRPG when the products are completed.
Anyone receiving a physical product will have the option of adding a 16x10 in GM screen to your order. Simply add an additional $10 to your pledge to receive the screen.
Initial Funding Goal
$850 – Wake the Dead Trilogy [Funded}
Wake the Dead is a SteamCraft adventure trilogy written by Philip A. Lee. This tale introduces players to muckers, specialists brought in to to do off-the-books work for corporations, law enforcement, or anyone willing to pay for an unconventional solution to a potentially embarrassing problem. Muckers do the dirty work so that law enforcement, militia, and other employers can keep their own hands clean.
The first part of Wake the Dead begins with a rash of mysterious disappearances in the city of New Arcadia. The corpses of the missing reappear days later, unnaturally modified with hideous mechanical contraptions and potentially illicit magic. The city leadership is growing worried, and the constables have their hands full trying to keep the locals from panicking. To keep the situation quiet and out of the press, the New Arcadia Constabulary has hired you to investigate these nefarious circumstances and put and end to them.
In the trilogy’s second installment, you will explore potential corporate connections to the city’s strange disappearances. This covert operation will span the lowest and highest rungs of New Arcadian society, and it is up to you to stop this conspiracy before it can explode into the open.
In the third and final chapter, you must join forces with the constabulary and the local militia to find and confront this shadowy threat before it can destroy New Arcadia from within. Can you save the city, or will it fall victim to an army of the undead?
All backers will receive the following rewards as PDF when we reach the required level of funding.

Risks and challenges
This is our second Kickstarter. Our first Kickstarter was successful and we fulfilled all of our rewards. We know how to do a Kickstarter on time and on budget. As with any projects, there are potential bugaboos that may arise.
The main concern will be with the later stretch rewards. Wake the Dead part 1 is complete, and parts 2 and 3 are being finished now. The author has an extensive catalog and produces work quickly. The Ironskeep Adventure is complete. The first draft of the Red River Plains expansion is completed. A revised draft is being produced. There is no concern from a writing point of view on these projects.
The art could take longer to execute than we are anticipating. Artists are people with real lives and those lives can sometimes cause delays. We have expanded the number of artists we work with to help minimize the delay and we are actively seeking additional talent to help speed things up. This allows us to minimize any potential delay. It is highly unlikely that art will delay the Wake the Dead trilogy, but it may affect the stretch rewards.
Printing and shipping of any physical product may cause minor delays. Modern print-on-demand companies allow us to produce as many softcover products as we want at an affordable rate, usually in a short amount of time. If the proof copy we receive does not print well, we will need to edit the files and work with the printers to correct any issues. This might delay things a couple of weeks. As for shipping, we will be shipping the rewards ourselves. Some unforeseen event might cause us to be slightly delayed on our shipping. To minimize this, we have placed limits on physical reward tiers to minimize the potential for delays.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
