Time of the Dying Stars: Book One is the first of three books set in the City of Dolmvay. It is a collection of interlinked short stories that follow the events leading up to an ancient prophecy. This novella provides insights into the city's politics, religions, and the lives of everyday citizens. It also features cameos of favorite NPCs such as Tenkar the Tavernkeep, Dyson the Cartographer, and others. Time of the Dying Stars: Book One is a must-have for OSR Game Masters running adventures in the City of Dolmvay.
Book One will be offered under RPGNow's Pay What You Want (PWYW) Program.
Note: The City of Dolmvay was fully detailed in the Guidebook to the City of Dolmvay, a Labyrinth Lord™ city sourcebook that detailed the people, layout, and government of the City of Dolmvay. It can be downloaded for FREE here:

Stretch Goal #1: $1,000
An 8.5" x 11" illustrated Special Edition of Time of the Dying Stars: Book One to be offered for sale in PDF and print format at RPGNow upon its release. This special edition will contain game stats of all major NPCs, new magic items, new monsters, and descriptions of major locations found in the novella, as well as six mini-adventures inspired by the events of the novella. The mini-adventures will include mapped locations and game stats, and are written as free-standing adventures, not railroads that force the characters to follow the course of the novella's story.
Almost all of this content will be Open Game Content. Those familiar with Small Niche Games products can expect the same type of "drag and drop" modular content found in the Guidebook to the City of Dolmvay.
The PDF will be free to backers who pledge more than $10. The print version will be free to backers who pledge more than $60.
Stretch Goal #2: $1,500
A full-length city-based adventure for 3-6 characters of 1st-3rd levels entitled "The Tower of Dead Thieves". This adventure is set in the city of Dolmvay and will be offered for sale in PDF and print format at RPGNow upon its release. The PDF will be free to backers who pledge more than $20. The print version will be free to backers who pledge more than $60.
Small Niche Games would like to offer a set of alternate print product rewards for backers who already possess the following products in print format: Chronicles of Amherth campaign setting, the Guidebook to the City of Dolmvay city sourcebook, and/or the Ghoul Keep and the Ghoul Lands setting sourcebook. Eligible backers may opt to receive any two (2) Small Niche Games adventures in print format instead of one of those products (i.e. Blood Moon Rising and Inn of Lost Heroes instead of the Guidebook to the City of Dolmvay). (Note that the Atarin's Delve adventure is not available in print format.)
Risks and challenges
The writing for Time of the Dying Stars: Book One is about 95% finished and clocks in around 100 pages. I'm estimating a December 2014 release for the PDF version of the novella. If Stretch Goal #1 is reached, I'm estimating a June 2015 release for the Special Edition novella/sourcebook (see Stretch Goal #1 description). If Stretch Goal #2 is reached, the Tower of Dead Thieves adventure should be ready by July 2015 (see Stretch Goal #2 description). All print products will be shipped together on the date of the last Stretch Goal.
If the Stretch Goals are reached, progress reports will be sent out monthly to interested backers. These will describe the project's status and contain select illustrations, sample NPCs, maps, new monsters, snippets from the novella, and other items. All money earned from Kickstarter pledges will be divided between writing, artwork, and maps (with enough held out for printing/shipping/handling), so the more backing it receives, the prettier the products will look and the more content they will contain.
This is my second experience with Kickstarter. My first experience was the Guidebook to the City of Dolmvay. That Kickstarter was a HUGE success that funded almost instantly and shipped on time.
