Splintered By The WCG
A campaign for those affected by the WCG and its splinter groups.
This is a campaign created to expose the WCG and its splinter groups. Founded in 1934 the radio church of god started out as a humble new spin on modern Christianity. However this simple radio church would soon pave the way for decades of heartache, pain and confusion. Throughout the 1930's, 40's and 50's the group capitalized on false predictions and the threat of war. Which changed this radio church into a powerful organization that pocketed on the fears of many.
In the 1960's this group started calling itself the Worldwide Church of God – WCG. This organization gained thousands of followers and millions in member based revenue. Members traded obedience to the church and would submit to the groups will and rules. Which were: Do not work on Saturday, Do not seek medical treatment, Divorce your spouse if deemed fit, Give 10 to 30% of all income to the the group. Just to name a few stipulations.
All in exchange for a promised soon to come “end times” event. Convincing its members of a "place of safety". Where members would be protected from doom and later be transformed into god and begin a new age. One in which members would rule the earth and enforce god's will upon the world. However after the death of their leader (Armstrong) in the late 1980's the group started to fall apart. By the 1990's the group shattered into 10 or so splinter groups. Many countless lives were and still continue to be disturbed by these entities.
Complaints and Grievances
Many of us have faced countless unresolved issues with the splinter groups of the WCG. Including defamation of character, emotional distress and therapy, medical endangerment, the breaking down of families, loss of loved ones. As well as reckless endangerment of minors and indoctrination.
Testimonials and Confessions
Here's a short list of just some of the hundreds if not thousands of complaints from former members. These complaints, testimonials and confessions have been made anonymous to insure confidentiality. Again this is just a short list of the many untold stories from the survivors of these groups.
"The other night I started my first run at a confession video. Though I have not been in the PCG for years.... my mother who is still in the pcg who has advanced skin cancer and heart failure is...... while my confession is much longer and will be in the main documentary with more details...this really hit hard even for my friend who was helping me film at the time”. - Testimonials 1
“My spouse joined this group a few years back and started taking my son to it. I didn't think much about it at the time. She started to change, everything started to change. One day she went to her “church” and never came back. I was given divorce papers and that was that. I haven't seen my son this year. In fact I've only seen him six times in 3 years. I've been forbidden to see my own family”. - Testimonials 2
“My mother literally believes she is going to become god in a desert in the next couple years. That's right my mother actually thinks in less than a few years shes going to become god and rule over people. Before coming into this group she didn't used to think like this”. - Testimonials 3
“I was 16 when I first became homeless. My parents were convinced to join one of the splinter groups of the WCG by my grandfather. I was 9 when my parents joined. I hated it because everything I knew was gone in an instant. Birthdays, holidays, Christmas. It drove a wedge in my family. I was kicked out when my family became tired of hearing me complain about wanting my old life back. The final straw to them was when I met a boy and started dating him. He was a good guy but because he wasn't in the church. And because they couldn't convince me to date someone in the church. They got rid of me, like I was garbage” . - Testimonials 4
“They thought the world was coming to an end. So I was taken out of school. I didn't get a full education because my parents wouldn't properly home school me. All they could talk about was “what was going to happen to the world”. I didn't really realize it at the time. But I was slowly becoming isolated. By my late teens I had become very sick because I wasn't advised or allowed to take medicine or ask for medical assistance. All our money was going down this funnel that we could never get back. By my early 20s I had no skills, no real education, I didn't even have friends. I'm still paying for it today. I've lost so much time and lost so many opportunities”. - Testimonials 5
As for myself, a friend helped me to see that it was all false information. Reading old plain truths, I found 5-6 times Armstrong said "this is the end" or "another 5-7 years" or "Mussolini IS the BEAST of Revelation who will fight Christ at his return!"...etc. Plus, history doesn't support "the KEY to understanding Bible Prophecy" (British Israelism), etc.
"The only "horror story" for me (other than the sadness for my dad) is the tragedy of my Stolen Youth. Could have gone to a real college instead of IC (had the smarts), could have done my Dream Career...but no, "can't work on the Sabbath" and "the world is about to end and there isn't time for a career in this Present Evil World". When I finally saw I had been being lied to (probably not intentionally--they all believe the teachings I'm sure) about Reality, when I realized that I had traded my opportunities for success in this life for the promise of a Wonderful World Tomorrow that was just a fairy-tale, I was suicidal...very nearly succeeded (self-medicating with whiskey is not recommended). I lost all my friends, for they were all in the church (except for 2-3) just when I needed friends the most. But of course, that's what the "no contact" policy is about--rip your emotional support away as a form of Blackmail to keep you in. Well, that and controlling the information the membership receives. Both are classic Cult tactics." - Testimonials 6

Course Of Action and Goals
Our main course of action and goals will be to create the documentary. To expose the atrocities brought upon former members of the WCG and it's splinter groups. To expose the WCG for what it is and how it has harmed countless lives. To vindicate those affected.
As far as bringing justice to these groups we are planning a strile on all fronts. Through both national and online attention. Several social media personalities have heard of the upcoming documentary and want to help. Even some local radio stations are in on the idea, not to mention local news media outlets. If you have an idea for more exposure fill free to contact us. We're all ears. Once the film is ready we plan to release it and gather as much attention as possible. And it WILL get a lot of attention. We're also creating a website to record and document further - the untold stories of former members.
There's a lot of good we can't bring up just yet. As well as an expected or least hoped for outcome, that we can not announce till after the completion of the film. But I will announce this... our time is coming. Its time people know the truth about the WCG and its offshoots. Its an ambitious project but its worth it. This is our story and it needs to be told. This could be our only chance to make a difference If you want your voice heard, now is the time.
