Altar is an interactive horror experience coming to PC, Mac, and iOS.
In Altar, you will explore dark, generated woods and interact with mysterious entities and clever puzzles all the while being immersed in a disturbing story about panic, suffering, and evil.
As horror fans, our two man team believe we had to add our own vision to the genre. The world is now plagued with vampires, zombies and werewolves and seems like there's not much room left for true darkness: the presence that hides under your bed, stares at you in the dark while you sleep and whispers in your ear... We wanted to capture that in Altar.
We're excited to share with you what we came up with using our enthusiasm for horror movies, books and games and how much we enjoy not only being scared by our beloved monsters (Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, Silent Hill, Twin Peaks, Year Walk, Fatal Frame, and the like) but how we wanted to explore the horror genre by ourselves... And then give you a little bit of the creeps.
Altar is Ten Apart's first project. One programmer and one designer who, one day over a coffee, had the idea of joining their interests, skills and time because scaring people would be so much fun to do.
And here we are, beckoning you to explore this dark forest... To get lost... And walk with us.
In Altar you will find detailed, grainy and atmospheric 2D characters, environments and creatures that will share stories, clues and will be your only companions while exploring these woods in pure black and white, just like classic silent horror movies.

Why Kickstarter? With most of the art assets nearing completion and some programming left to be done, Altar is almost ready.
But unfortunately we don't have a sound artist as part of our team, so we need to hire one to help us bring the atmosphere of Altar to life.
The money we collect from our supporters will be used to pay for the sound design and engineering so we can listen to what this forest and its inhabitants truly sound like.
Altar is almost there. We only need to give it a voice. Would you help us?
Please take a look at our many ways to say "thank you" for supporting our project.
Risks and challenges
Though we already have a distributor for the rewards, some things may take longer to ship due to logistics and the number of backers Altar receives.
With that said, we will remain as transparent as possible about any difficulties, should they arise.
Our two-man team currently isn't working on any other project other than Altar so we are devoting much of our free time outside of both work and school to make this project a reality.
