"A Fire Inside is a stylish dystopian tale about an estranged family with a history of robot slaying and drug addiction. Get lost in a detailed futuristic metropolis and follow the lives of three siblings dealing with both the perks and reprecussions of infamy."
It’s nearing the end of the century and everyone’s gearing up for the rager of a lifetime. New Year's Eve marks five years since the city's been declared safe from AI invansion and war.
The Withrow family have earned their title of The Slayers over the years. Most of the rumors are true... they come from an extensive line of robot destroyers, assassins, and vigilantes. Three foster siblings raised by the Withrows are now trying their best to cope with the mental and physical trauma the family has caused them, all while trying to figure out their own identities.
The war may be over, but not everyone is convinced. Influential conspiracy theorists conquer the airwaves with accusations against the family. Some believe the threat of aggressive AI will never end as long as The Slayers are still around.
Follow the twisted paths of Joon, Lee, and Sophia as these paranoid and broken siblings start to question each others' motives and sanity in a polluted cyber city.
A Fire Inside is a jumbo edition of Chapter One, with 28+ pages of beautifully illustrated panels and painted cover pages. Here's a look at some artwork from the book!
My name is Kelsey Kasperski and I'm the creator and illustrator of A Fire Inside! Thanks so much for checking out this project. For the past ten years I've worked as a professional tattoo artist and illustrator on independent comics, including A Fire Inside's sister story Joon (Comixology, KS). My illustrations are heavily influenced by industrial animation and works such as Final Fantasy, Blade Runner, and The X-Men.
I wanted to create something gritty, adult, and relatable- even in a distraught cyber setting. I believe A Fire Inside checks all of those boxes and I hope you do too!
THE CAMPAIGN & REWARDS
The campaign's goal will cover the basic cost of printing, shipping, and Kickstarter fees. Anything beyond the set goal will help contribute to working on the stretch goals, as well as helping to pay the creator (me!)
Some of the rewards include signed physical content, being drawn into the book, as well as NSFW digital rewards. Here's a look at what you can expect!
Risks and challenges
There is always the risk of printing delays and shipping set backs. I've ran two successful Kickstarters in the past and luckily everything went smoothly for me. I'm aiming to keep that tradition alive and will continue to have quick and open communication with all of my backers!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
