We've been touring a ton this past year. The band is tight and we're ready to get our new originals down on tape. It's been three years since we recorded "If I Walked On Water," and it's high time to record another album. Our February tour took us to New Orleans, where we had some time to spend in the recording studio and get a head start on a few songs. The rest of the recording will take place later this spring. I'll bring in some of my favorite musicians from New Orleans to add the finishing touches to the CD. I loved working on the horn arrangements for the last record, so there will be plenty of horns on this CD, more backing vocals, and certainly some guests on piano and organ.
Risks and challenges
In the past five years, I've led "Ted Hefko and The Thousandaires", as well as produced and recorded two full length albums of original music, "If I Walked On Water," and "Egyptland. I've also appeared on more than a dozen other recordings during my career. I have a lot of experience and industry connections to bring to this project and I'm going to use all the resources I have get this music out to you.
We want to get this music out to you while it's hot! We have been able to recoup our recording costs for past projects through CD sales eventually. But, having at least some of the money upfront will give us a lot more options - like doing another take! In addition, having some of the money ahead of time means we won't be broke when the CDs arrive, so we'll able to get right back in the van and bring our live music and CDs to the world!
Here's what a our budget looks like:
$1500-$2000 Studio Recording Costs - I've payed some of this already and I'll be happy to front the rest if you'll help me with the following expenses:
$1200 Pressing the CDs
$200-500 Artwork and CD Layout
any additional $$$ will go towards promoting the CD in print on the-airwaves and of course in-person
As I said in the video clip, we're asking for about half of what we need to make to bring this project to fruition, so please don't stop giving once we reach our goal! On the other hand, if we don't reach our Kickstarter pledge goal, no money will we charged and we'll be back to square one.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
