I’m Christopher, a recent college graduate with a passion for maps. Maps can tell a lot about our collective history, ideals, and daily lives. In short, they tell a story. Beyond that tale, they are also interesting and attractive works of art.
For this initial series of artistic map, I’ve been inspired by traditional blueprints. Each map is created with accurate data and then artistically transformed to highlight each city’s street network, highways, and water features. After the map is created, the print is customized with architectural/engineering embellishments.
Very grateful for the recognition from TrendHunter.com!
I want to kickstart this project and bring these prints to life. In order to accomplish this, I’ll need start-up funds to buy technology, inks, paper, and shipping materials.
Currently, 51 cities are available; 28 in the United States and 23 international cities. Don't see your city here? Please leave a comment and tell me what cities you'd like to see in the future!
San Antonio, TX
San Jose, CA
Las Vegas, NV
Los Angeles, CA
New Orleans, LA
New York City, NY

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hong Kong, SAR of PRC
London, United Kingdom
Sao Paulo, Brazil
The production of the prints will employ an individual giclée printing process using premium pigment inks (fade, scratch, and water resistant) on premium heavyweight matte paper suitable for framing. Each print will be hand signed and numbered and make for a beautiful and fun conversation piece.
City Blueprint prints are available in two sizes:
Small 9” x 12”
Large 18” x 24”
I apologize for all the scrolling! :)
Risks and challenges
Having worked in a university’s graphic design lab and developed expertise in printing student projects, I have a great appreciation for the challenges associated with bringing artwork from the digital world into something tangible. Color corrections, tweaking line widths, and adjusting position on the paper to produce a print I will be proud of is going to be a challenge, but given my aptitude for this type of work, I am confident in my abilities to overcome these obstacles.
While I’m not a business person, I have been relying on family and friends, who are business people for guidance and an introduction to technical issues such as order tracking, supply management, cost calculations, and accounting.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
For US cities distances are in miles. All other maps will use kilometers.
I use high quality data to produce each map, so land, water, and roads are pretty accurate as are the city boundaries; however, these are intended to be artistic and not meant for driving or navigation. So, if you want to use it as a road map, I take no responsibility should you get lost! :)
There are many factors that help decide what features get labeled on a particular map. In some cases, I choose iconic features, such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. In other instances I’ve included neighborhoods with interesting stories that stood out to me. For example, in London, the Harold Hill development was planned to provide quality housing for the poor during the post-war period. I thought this was an interesting history and merited inclusion on the London map. And sometimes, choosing to include or exclude a feature is based on aesthetics. There is only so much room on each map and I do not want to make them too busy. I’m bound to miss some points of interest that folks expect to see, but hopefully you’ll find features in each city that you didn’t know about before. After my Kickstarter campaign quotes may be requested for custom detail maps.
