Trektych is a term derived from the word triptych, which loosely defines a form of art that tells a story through a series of installations (visual images). Trektych is a movement that inspires others to break through their comfort zones and experiment with adventure. Our kick off trip takes us across the United States on the Trans America Trail, a route rarely traveled and made up entirely of a system of dirt roads and passages.
Together we are leaving our jobs, selling our belongs and hitting the road for a month-long, 5,000 mile trip in search of the unknown and the ultimate adventure. We will be documenting the entire trip weekly through our online video series in order to tell our story and, upon completion of the trail, developing an e-book about the trip. This will help us show our future adventurers just what a journey like this takes to complete. But we need your help!
Why We Need Your Donation:
-A new Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens for our Canon Rebel XTi Camera for our postcards, social media and ebook - $839.00
-Food for 4-6 weeks, because we get hungry (and hangry!) - $750.00 +/-
-Gas because our Jeep isn't quite a Prius - $1,500.00 +/-
-Camping Gear because sleeping under the stars is only cool until you feel something wriggling at your feet - $1,000.00
-Emergency Supplies, because AAA doesn't provide helicopter support to locations +200 miles off the grid - $300.00
-Media channel fees, because we can't show you how well (or not well) our trip is going unless we have the funds to stay (somewhat) connected to the real world - Cost To Be Determined
-E-book service and creation fees, we want to create the perfect guide to traveling across the Trans America Trail that provides full descriptions state-by-state on what to expect, sites to see, terrain, and advice on gear and equipment. This book will be a combination of stunning photography and experienced first-hand descriptions.. - Cost To Be Determined
Risks and challenges
Traveling across the country on unmarked and unmaintained dirt roads provides its own set of challenges. Being in the most remote locations in the United States leaves many things up to chance. Our vehicle is our number one concern. While we are fully equipped with an off-road SUV we can never truly predict its success in making it from Boston to Oregon. Trail conditions, damaged parts, flat tires and crippling weather can all effect the trip and how successful it will be. Our online presence relies on a way to connect to the outside world and posts will be made solely on availability of signals.
Our goal is to provide the most concise and consistent story of a life changing experience that we hope will excite and inspire others to follow a dream they once thought impossible. In any case, this will certainly be an adventure worth talking about and sharing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
