“…Yerushalmy, a gifted choreographer, is also a compelling mover with a talent for merging precision with something freer, softer, and more risky…"
-Deborah Jowitt, DanceBeat
Hello Dear People,
I am raising $7,500 to cover the final production costs for my new dance Helga And The Three Sailors, premiering at Danspace Project, November 6th-8th.
I started to develop this project in early 2013 and have since received support for its research and development from wonderful organizations in the USA and internationally. Today, when we are less than a month away from the premiere, and deep in the production phase, I am hoping that YOUR INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTION will usher Helga toward the stage.
ALL OF THE MONEY THAT YOU GIVE WILL GO DIRECTLY TOWARDS PAYING THE ARTISTS THAT ARE MAKING THIS WORK.
You could potentially want to support Helga And The Three Sailors because you are interested in:
AESTHETICS the critical reflection on art, culture and nature, and the study of sensory values
FACES the face treated here as an integral part of the skilled, moving, muscular body
HIGH JUMPS the body as expressive of inventive, exacting, powerful forms
A GEOLOGY IN A BODY layers of personal history, as they reside in a body, traced as intuitive forces that shape formal choreographic constructions
CHILDREN records of a child dancing are recycled as source material
COLORS AND SHAPES this dance can operate as a series of shifting textures, colors, and shapes on a canvas
INTERESTING MUSIC melodica, electronics, and voice oscillate between minimalism and rich polyphonies
OR because you want to support THE PEOPLE that are creating this piece. They are:

Risks and challenges
Making a dance takes a lot of time, committed energy, money, endurance, and passion.
My art-making entails a dependence on other humans to be rigorously engaging with my ideas.
It also entails so many other responsibilities such as administrative and bureaucratic work that knows no bounds and bears no relationship to the creative practice that i am skilled at.
The challenges are MANY and are ALWAYS there. I know them intimately.
I also know the potential of live performance to be incomparably powerful, viscerally affecting, and poetic; while all the while fleeting.
So for me there is no real choice.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
