Update: Wrote a little something about the Fire with Fire world
FIRE WITH FIRE is a cross-platform tower attack and defense game that adds player vs. player, online matchmaking, and offensive creep wave planning to the genre. The game is currently planned for OUYA, iOS, Android, PC, Linux and OSX. Please note that players using different devices can still play with friends and family using other devices!
Free to play with the option to purchase additional tower sets (5 towers) partnered with new story maps to play for a few dollars. We haven't decided on a set price yet. We will also have creep sets (2 creeps) and new map skins for online multiplayer.
There will always be a large pool of free towers and creeps to chose from and try out. The pool will rotate through all towers and creeps in the game over the course of a few weeks.
If you have favorites that you prefer to play regularly, you can purchase them.
We strongly believe in maintaining a balanced, fair and fun strategy game that is available to everyone, everywhere at any price!

Multiplayer supports you and another player paired against each other in a matchmaking session where you both have the opportunity to choose 15 towers and 10 creeps to use against each other during the match. The object of the game is to burn down the other player's trees while protecting your own. You will start the game by placing towers to form a maze defending your trees.
After players have had the opportunity to form a defense, they'll choose when and which type of creep waves to attack their opponent with and then watch the action happen! Between creep waves, players can continue adding onto and adjusting their defenses. A player can attack with creep waves as often as every 45 seconds. Certain situations call for different types of creeps or towers, and it is up to the player to learn and utilize these strategies.
Our game types besides online matchmaking and story mode will be casual play and pass and play mode. In the casual play mode, you can invite a friend to play against you. Unlike Online matchmaking players can pause the game at any time, allowing for interruptions and breaks to not interfere with the flow of the game.
We also have plans for a pass and play game mode which allows players to take turns using the same device in a single match.
Our story mode campaign plays like a traditional single player tower attack and defense game, but utilizing our new offensive creep wave system. The campaign follows the story of warring clans, each struggling to secure the last remaining resources of a once abundant dystopia.
The story mode will help players become familiar with the core mechanics of the game, and introduces new ones as more content becomes available. Ideally, we will have detailed splash screens overlaid with rich narrative between the levels.
We feel that the story mode will provide the atmosphere for the game as well as allow players to practice on their own. Once you complete story mode, you should have the skills to battle among your peers for the top of the leader board!
Tower sets consist of 5 strategically organized towers that carry a specific theme. Each tower is unique in it's strategic use. In game only the basic tower for each set is unlocked. Building the basic tower generates tech points which can be used to level up towers or unlock more powerful towers within the same set.
Creep sets consist of 2 creeps, each with a unique advantage. In game only one creep is unlocked per set. Once this creep has gained enough experience the second creep in the set becomes available adding to your arsenal of creep types to attack with. Creeps gain experience and level up as the game progresses but gain bonus experience when used in a wave.
To play competitively, you will need to choose a well rounded assortment of towers and creeps to cover all of your basis, but can still provide opportunities to break through your enemy's defense. Considering Flying creeps, Armored creeps and other specialty creeps are a must.
The game's production is about 75% complete. Most towers, creeps, the entire core game, and a basic server is complete. The funds of this Kickstarter will go towards our story mode campaign, tutorial levels, and finishing additional towers and creeps we want to have ready upon release, so that players have a wider variety of play styles to compete with online.
We will also need to use funds for the equipment necessary to bring Fire With Fire to new platforms, business organization, and possibly better server equipment as needed.
Stretch goals are important to us, because we plan on delivering new tower sets, creep sets, and maps, keeping the game fresh and challenging on a regular basis! By reaching our stretch goals, you get us there that much faster we would like the following towers to be available on launch day. In appreciation for your early support, all met stretch goal towers will be unlocked to all backers of any amount for free in addition to the tower sets you pick for your backer reward.
With each released tower set comes a new story segment, online playable map or game type in addition to making the towers usable in all online matches.
The Ancient Constructs Set. ( The $7,000 Goal ) These high damage towers rely on good positioning and holding enemy creeps in place. We hope you will enjoy our detailed description and blog articles on creating these towers in the near future.
Spectral Tower Set. ( The $8,000 Goal )An advanced strategy set that packs less punch but more than makes up for it with clever resurrections and ghostly revenge tactics.
Additional Funding will go strait towards new concepts and ideas. Which the community will be directly involved in on our forum.
Update: For those only interested in game content. Simply choose the $5 reward but be sure to adjust your actual pledge to any amount. Though we have not set exact prices on in game content, you will receive credit equal to your pledge for selecting content. All backers receive significantly more credit then what will be the norm after launch.
Physical rewards will be delivered on time as promised. Beta and digital content (creep and tower sets) have no exact delivery date at this time; all backers will be kept up to date about their release. All backers are accepted into beta which will last at least a few months before the official release. We make no promises about the quality and stability of beta, but do promise to read all feedback gained from your experiences.
All backers will be featured on the website in our credits page. The story mode will only be playable on the official release, though some levels might be testable in beta. Our stretch goal tower and creep sets will be unlocked for all backers for free! Newer players will be able to purchase them normally as additional content. So getting your friends to help back any tier can potentially really improve everyone's rewards.
Some of our higher rewards offer active participation in creating the look and feel of Fire with Fire. However we feel everyone should be able to contribute by joining our forum where the team can listen and trade feedback on future in game content ideas, changes and important decisions.

We understand that 2-3 months is a quick turnaround for a Kickstarter reward. We do not claim the game will be released in July or August--just that you'll be able to play test it in it's current state beginning a short time after this kickstarter ends. We will release game content in stages after closed beta has launched, but we promise our backers will know first and foremost all news Fire with Fire. Currently there is no official release date.
Our team has developed a clean production system on developing future content from concept to playable in game. We already have 4 tower sets and 5 creep sets just about ready to go! There is no doubt in our minds that we can deliver fresh and interesting maps, levels, creeps, and towers as long as we have an awesome player base ready to play!
We are confident the game will be ready to test in a couple months because we are already playing the alpha! We simply don't feel the game has enough content to truly be recognized as a complete game currently. That is what this Kickstarter is all about. It will be one full year in August since I started on the proof of concept for Fire with Fire. I've reiterated on the idea a couple times since then, organized a great team to work with and have been developing the technology to make a cross platform online game possible in this time.
I'd like it to be a mix in between. I know a lot of people are here because they love the idea of playing tower defense with other people. So we cater to that fact. But we also feel our world has a lot of potential for a great story. Without a story to get behind what are we fighting for anyway?
