What the Music Says Do digital release is THIS fri - july 20th
BIG NEWS! What the Music Says Do releases THIS Friday, July 20th!
As you know, this is my first CD and it is all original material. I was extremely lucky to work with many, many talented musicians (and all-around lovely people) on this project.
As to who and what's on the CD ...
Anthony Cox (bass), Nathan Greer (drums), Steven Hobert (piano) and I formed the core trio. Then I was honored by numerous special guests - Jake Baldwin (trumpet), my a cappella ensemble Give Get Sistet, Dean Magraw (guitar), Dave Schmalenberger (percussion) and Pete Whitman (clarinet and saxophone) - joined the trio and me on select tracks.
The album’s soundscape is vast and eclectic featuring traditional songs like the jazz waltz “When We Meet” and the nostalgic “Maybe” to message songs like “Two Dimensional” and “Brown Girl Blues;” Latin-influenced offerings like “Awake” and “Fall for Me” as well as improvisations I call ‘story-songs’ (“Big as Sky,” and “Storyteller”).
We recorded, mixed and mastered at Wild Sound Recording Studio with the supremely skilled Steve Kaul. I was also blessed in this endeavor with financial support from the MN State Arts Board and, of course, all of you - my 112 backers!
Once What the Music Says Do is released, you can find/buy it on CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes and your favorite streaming sites.
OR! You can get your CD from me at my CD Release Party Sunday, August 5th! *smile*
