How To Claim Your Planetary Annihilation Key

All backers of Planetary Annihilation have had access to the game since the debut of beta. Here's how to get your game key, if you're wondering:

- Go to the Uber Store at this link and sign into your account. If you've finalized your pledge with us, you will see a code to download the game.

- An order must be finalized before it becomes visible in our account system. If you have not finalized (an important step if you want your rewards!) go to this link and enter the e-mail address you originally used with Kickstarter or Paypal to find your pledge.

- If the link tells you it can't find an e-mail, you probably aren't an early backer. If you're totally certain you are, please e-mail support: support@uberent.com

Users who purchased Planetary Annihilation through Steam are not expected to have game keys. Only users who purchased PA through Kickstarter or the Uber store will have game keys listed in their “My Keys” page. This is because with a Steam purchase, Steam itself is responsible for tracking the ownership status of the game, whereas with Uber purchases ownership of the game is tracked by activation key.

Hi Guys, I'm in the same boat as Garret, I still have not gotten my key, (not steam key, normal key)

I went through the "finalize pledge" process several times and I got:

      LOOK OUT FOR AN E-MAIL
We've started to send out e-mails to our backers with instructions on how to redeem and customize their rewards.
      HAVEN'T GOT IT YET?
Hold tight! We're doing it in phases to ensure that the process goes smoothly.

Thanks guys for sorting me out. :)

Hey guys - Just to let you know, this update is already outdated. :)

You can now generate your own Steam key from your 'My Keys' page!
Select your key and a window should pop up asking if you'd like to convert your key to Steam.

Just enter your code into your Steam client as "Activate a Product on Steam".

Please make sure your Steam account is linked to your UberNet account by going here: https://uberent.com/user/linkedsteamaccount

Please note, Uber Store purchases must still contact Support for a Steam key.

Also, for a little info on Support, we apologize for the delayed response times. We are swamped with questions and are about a week behind in answering. :(

If you are a Backer and are unable to find your key on your 'My Keys' page, please use the Kickstarter email to send us a message so we can look into it. In many cases, your key is on a forgotten account. :)

Uber, when will the DRM-free version be available?

    5. Dan Morey on

@Garret AJ I'm in the same situation as you. I got the same page. I deleted some of the url to go to the uber entertainment home page and managed to get to my keys, but it didn't show any keys against my account. No idea what to do.

    6. Garret AJ on

Thanks for the reply, but there's nothing there. That's the first place I checked.

I went through the "finalize pledge" process again. What's all this about:
      LOOK OUT FOR AN E-MAIL
We've started to send out e-mails to our backers with instructions on how to redeem and customize their rewards.
      HAVEN'T GOT IT YET?
Hold tight! We're doing it in phases to ensure that the process goes smoothly.

After finalizing your pledge, no email is sent. Your key is automatically available on your UberNet account under the 'My Keys' tab right away. Just go to your account to activate. :)

    8. Garret AJ on

I followed these instructions as soon as they came out. I'm wondering when I get the email. Does it take days to send the emails?

    9. Tarwin Stroh-Spijer on

OK. Well that is silly. After searching around again I found I had to link my Steam and UberEnt accounts. Why so much work?!

I got my key, installed the game. But when I try to log in (inside the game) it tells me I don't own it. WTF?!

    11. Daryl Putman on

(That is to say, the game is not yet available DRM-free.) I'll give you a little bit longer...

Why is the Windows Setup only tiny (PA_Setup.exe (28,908 KB)) while the Linux is over a gig? Oh, I see it's only a LAUNCHER installer. It's not actually the *game*. I can't download the game without signing in to an account with this so-called launcher.

How many layers of DRM are they trying to add to this? I'm VERY displeased.

    13. Rand Chua TL on

wondering as a ks backer do we get steam keys too?

    14. Steve Claridge on

Same as others here, emailed support to get a Steamkey on Friday and had no response yet. Even an automated generic response would be nice just to confirm the message had been received.

What makes it more ridiculous, that it undermines the Kickstarter efforts - the game costs 15 bucks in my region, I've payed 20 here. Now I have to wait to play it for no reason.

As others have said, I opened a support ticket on Friday regarding a steam key and still haven't had any response. This system is quite ridiculous.

    17. Trrz Zrrt on

I've opened a support ticket 5 days ago to get my Steamkey, not a single line of response yet

@kristoff The overwhelming majority of questions that they're seeing (and you can see too just by reading a few comments) comes down to two: How do I get my key? And How do I make it a Steam key? Both of these questions have been answered ridiculously often by Uber and by people responding to others asking the question. It's so bad that, after reading this update, I expected to read at least a dozen replies to this one asking those same two questions.

@Riggo Per update #1 ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/659943965/planetary-annihilation-a-next-generation-rts/posts/289765 ) they have promised that offline play would be DRM free, but that online play with the global community would require a login. Since we don't have offline play, and we don't have the ability to host our own servers, I won't call the DRM free "a swing and a miss", especially since Uber is still promising to release the server side for people to host their own games in the future. No ETA provided yet, and I wish they would, but that's a separate issue.

    19. Riggo on

Which to me is OK, if all 3 keys could play off-line.

    20. Riggo on

However, we should have seen that coming as I pledged for 3 keys and 3 keys would not be required for DRM free.

    21. Riggo on

@Chris... The promised DRM free is a swing and a miss.

Thanks for the steps to get my key! I don't appreciate the patronising tone of the update though :/

So now that the game's "finished" (theoretically only bug-fixes left to go), I'm curious whether it lives up to the promise of being DRM-free - notably, since a required Internet connection and/or required registration with Uberent are both forms of DRM. Steam's also DRM, though devs/PR team has noted a HB version will be available somehow (IIRC).

Still waiting on instructions on how to get the finished game (on PC), without external (to KS) registration, without DRM, and without a required/persistent online connection.

    24. Michael Pedersen on

Joshua, speaking as someone who did that (backed for Alpha, converted key from Uber to Steam at that time, and has continued playing through the release on Friday), I can safely say that the full retail is unlocked and ready for you to play once you update.

    25. Joshua Meadows on

If we already redeemed our Steam key from Uber for the alpha/beta access do we need to do any of this or is it automatically transitioned into the full version?
