Planetary Annihilation Now $29.99

Awesome news: starting today, Planetary Annihilation is just $29.99 across the Uber store, Steam, the Humble Bundle Store, and other providers.

Permanent price drops like this one have always been symbolic of the strides we’ve made with the core game experience. Since the debut of Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Galactic War, we’ve continued fleshing out and iterating on many key components of Planetary Annihilation. The new user-interface elements you can see today add flair and flavor — and make browsing more enjoyable. Battles are even bigger and faster courtesy breakthrough technical upgrades. We’ve also taken some huge steps visually by ratcheting up explosions and improving the Commander launch sequence. And the AI? It grows more evil by the day.

These are just a few of the improvements we’ve been making, and we think you’ll love what we’ve got in store for you next. Thanks for joining us on this ride and making Planetary Annihilation possible!

Thanks for the info, guys. Time to take another look at the game.

I must have missed the email with my key. Surely you wouldn't be selling a game you haven't delivered to your backers.

@Pedasn, @ADN19064, @Timothy: The 'campaign' is Galactic War. Writing a story-driven campaign is /very/ expensive. Galactic War gives us chained battles with interesting conundrums and progression, much like a campaign. It doesn't have a story, but on the other hand the conundrums are different each time, so it has greater replay than campaigns. (For those interested in the history, the update that introduced the idea of Galactic War was #8).

As for Skirmish, as @Padasn said, we've had it for over half a year. To play a skirmish game, start a multiplayer game and fill it with as many AIs as you want. The full instructions are: Click Multiplayer, then Create Game. The default game mode is already Private, which is what you want. From here, you can add AIs to your heart's content. The AI difficulty defaults to Normal (as low as it goes), but you can lower their economy with the +/- buttons at the right (around the lightning bolt hex). I recommend reducing their difficulty down to “soggy napkin” the first time you play, as these are the best AIs I've seen in an RTS.

@Sharkeyx, and anyone else lacking a key (I'm sure there's a few more of you out there): @Dennis Hennessy worked out where to get it 5 and 12 posts below mine.

Every time Uber reduces the price, a few people get mad that they don't have keys yet, and then one of them figures out how to get them and shares their discovery with the rest. I suspect that there's a sociology paper about information flow in closed systems with imperfect communication that's waiting to be written.

@ AGN1964: There has been a skirmish mode for a long time. single player campaign should be coming.

Does this mean we can get our keys now for those of us that did not back for the Beta, just the actual release?

    6. AGN1964 on

@Timothy, perhaps we should break new ground and play a game with each other ;-)

Agreed with AGN1964. I didn't particularly buy the game for multiplayer. I have actually played two games and since then held off waiting for a campaign or at least in-game tutorial set of missions. Is this coming? I've never played an RTS that didn't have them.

Just an update on my earlier comment..

Someone in Uber just mailed me and explained that I hadn't 'finalized' my pledge. I think what that means is that it takes you through their store and ends up generating a download code (or converting the code to a steam code).

Anyway, all's well - looking forward to playing it now!

Huh. I could of sworn that "Convert to Steam" button wasn't there yesterday. Anyway....

Is there a campaign (if not, will there be?)
Is there a single player skirmish mode (if not, will there be?)

I enjoy a good rts, but I play the above games, not PvP.

    11. Bill Briggs on

Right, the ability to get the key has existed for months. Go into your ubernet account and convert your key to a steam key.

    12. Mercury on

I've had a steam key so long ago I can't even remember when it happened... @Ryan figured it out, just login to your account and convert to steam.

I've never seen a steam key either... I've tried writing to ask about getting one in the past but never heard back... Pretty standard practice for games we own to be able to get a steam key. Please can someone from PA update those of us that haven't seen one?

    15. Denis Hennessy on

I'm getting a bit fed up of these 'promotions'. I backed the project (with an estimated delivery of Jul 2013) and am still waiting on my keys.

How about actually sending out keys to your backers before asking us to pay more??

    16. Ryan Ziegler on

I'm an idiot... there is a button in my uberent account that says, "CONVERT TO STEAM KEY" -- I thought I would post that here for others who might be as blind as me.

    17. Ryan Ziegler on

In my Uber Ent. account, it says I can convert the code into a steam key, but I don't see where I can do that.

    18. Ryan Ziegler on

Where/how did we get Steam keys... haven't played since initial installation.

Was the Steam key emailed at some point? I'll hunt it down if it was - I am currently using the PA Launcher.

    20. NavyRayne on

@Mike and @Ryan - I had a key a LONG time ago, you guys should have keys already.

Does this mean the backers will get keys or do you want is to pay again?

    22. Ryan Ziegler on

Does this mean we can get a steam key as backers? It would be nice to get the auto-update features associated with Steam.
