The Planetary Annihilation Soundtrack Has Arrived

Strap in. Planetary Annihilation's epic orchestral soundtrack is now available to download -- and, of course, it's free to all of our dear supporters.

Planetary Annihilation's original score was mixed and composed by our in-house audio engineer Howard Mostrom. The score's soothing strings, soaring tones, and next-level percussion were performed by the Northwest Sinfonia and Chorale. Overall, the record boasts 26-tracks and over an hour's worth of powerful sound.

We're sending out invites to get your free copy of the soundtrack in waves, so check your e-mail. Once you receive it, follow the simple instructions and claim your copy. You should be receiving it shortly. Stay tuned!

If you who want an early taste of what to expect or want to see Howard at work, check out this video of our recording session (which also features a track from the original score):

Additionally, the soundtrack is available on iTunes, Bandcamp, and many other popular music streaming services. Check it out today!

      Anybody still waiting?

    3. Creator Patrick on June 14, 2014

Woohoo! I was a *little* worried when I heard early synth versions of some tracks, but this is great. It takes a few cues from Jeremy's work, but clearly has it's own identity. 'What We Built' and 'Prepare for War' have been listened to many times already :)

By the way, some of the choral work reminds me somewhat of Murray Gold's writing for the Daleks in Doctor Who; an inspiration perhaps?

Yes I am, that's why I asked. Nothing in my spam box.

While this is very interesting and tightly composed music, I don't personally perceive it as "in-game music". Jeremy Soule for instance seems to have a knack for composing orchestral music that fits in a game context, but in my opinion this isn't that. I've never composed and haven't played an instrument in 40 years and have never produced an RTS game; I've only been playing those and other strategy and tactical games since 1979. I do know what I'd like to hear while playing a game, though, and it won't be this. I will be muting the music if I play the game at all, and given my unresolvable objection to aspects of the game's design, I may not. I see this music as demonstrative of how I perceive the game overall: creative and interesting and edgy and all, but not what I wanted and I'm in a minority too small to have persuaded a change in direction.
