We did it! As planned, we were able to push out a new build of Planetary Annihilation every day this week. The goal was to smooth out a lot of performance bugs and get the overall stability of the client up. Mission accomplished. The game now runs much faster, it crashes less for the folks who had problems, and it's just a lot more reliable in general.

If you haven't been in the loop, here's a quick rundown of the major fixes and additions we dropped into the game throughout the week:

  • Fixes for various server crash issues 
  • Eliminated Advanced Metal Extractor exploit 
  • Better ATI support for Mac users 
  • Improved Steam launching for Linux version 
  • Made advanced tanks smaller 
  • Vastly improved water unit pathing 
  • AI now uses bots 
  • Now support mapping for WASD 
  • Added new art for energy plant, sea air defense, advanced radar satellite Added the ability to specifically select AI as an opponent instead of having players leave spots open.

Cool stuff, right? With this behind us, we'll continue improving the performance of the overall game. But, now we're also going to continue our feature development. Stuff like enhanced lobbies, for example, advanced unit control, and Galactic War.

      I don't know how long this would take, but can you please PLEASE add a friends' list to the game?

      I understand that the amount of people who are playing the beta are limited, however, with the steam early access and the opportunity to bump up to beta/alpha status, has probably increased that amount.

      Plus, when Galactic War gets implemented, having a steady group of people to play with would be a huge boon for everyone.

      Thus, pretty please?

      i guess i'm a little frustrated. i joined at the $20 level and added $50 (total of $70) with the intention - indicated on the rewards site months ago - that i didn't want beta access but wanted three keys to the game. the reward of two additional keys was $50 at the time. it seems that not only am i on beta (just confirmed by downloading) by that i only have one key in my account. there doens't appear to be any way to contact / get help on the uber account page. where can i get this fixed? help...

      Any clue how much longer till I get my beta testing email? Fulfillment website keeps saying soon and my emails to support dont get me any help either. I seriously wanna try beta, sounds like fun.

      Oh, but any word on when we'll be able to select more than one starting planet? I really like the turtling game, and I imagine that would make for very interesting wars.

      I haven't had a chance to login to the game in weeks (alpha supporter) - but can anyone here quickly say if the game is truly playable on MBP-Retina machines yet? The graphics were very choppy before, which it sounds like has been addressed... but the biggest problem was that the UI seemed to assume that everyone has a two (or three?) button mouse w/ scrollwheel. I don't. I use an Apple Magic Mouse because it supports the trackpad gestures. But it didn't work well with the game before (and keymappings were not intuitive or obvious).

      Loving the current build its been a fun week since the beta launch. Starting off with insufferable load times and the AU sever seemingly going down every few hours, but now stale sever quick load times so its worth reconnecting to a game along with some nicely improved path finding.

      Currently though the ability to deal with orbital units is a bit lack luster. I know there are ways to see orbital units so the iron cannon can see them but the cannon it self really needs the ability to orbital units above it (as much as I enjoy laser sniping enemy commanders next to there iron its getting a bit to easy). Keep up the great work guys cant wait for next lot of patches.

      Still only getting about 10 FPS in the Mac version, with all graphics settings to low. Again, my machine is an older one (2008 MBP, 2.5 Ghz C2D, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA 8600M) but I cannot imagine the system requirements for this game are that high. If I'm wrong just say so. I'll be upgrading before much longer, anyway.

      There is some awkwardness with the way the game takes control of the monitor in fullscreen. I can scroll up on the map with the mouse, but it refuses to let me scroll down again by moving the cursor to the bottom of the screen. Also, the game is not disabling the hot-corners when it grabs the screen; whenever I move the mouse into the upper-right corner it activates Mission Control which immediately rips me out of the game. Very hard to play that way and disabling and re-enabling my hot corners every time I play would be a chore.

      I'll post this on the forums as well.

      Any chance you could post a high-resolution version of that? Preferably 2560x1440 or above? Also especially without any logo or watermark, I always disliked them :)
