Planetary Annihilation Inc - The Future of PA and Titans

Hello Commanders,

It’s Planetary Annihilation: TITANS’ third birthday, and we have some very exciting news to share.

We are proud to announce the creation of Planetary Annihilation Inc, a new company with a team comprised of original PA developers and long-time community contributors. Our sole focus will be Planetary Annihilation and making PA into the best game that it can be, one ready to take full advantage of the many changes in technology since development started back in 2012.

None of this would have been possible without our dedicated community and so we will be opening up our communication to let you know what we are working on and experimenting with. No more radio silence!

We'll be launching an official Discord server next month. This will be a place for you to connect with other players, ask for help, share your awesome strategies and where we can engage with you to keep you informed on all the cool stuff going on.

This is just the beginning of the journey we’re embarking on. As we ramp up Planetary Annihilation Inc there will be more announcements about the shakeup of the 1v1 ladder and some big changes we are implementing to improve performance on newer hardware.

There are a lot of changes coming, so make sure you don’t miss anything by following us on Twitter @PA_the_game.

We hope you’ll join us on this journey, and remember: mine the gas giant, claim the asteroids, and never, under any circumstances, let them own the metal planet.

So happy to hear and see this!

I have to say, almost every video game I backed was a disappointment, but I was pleased to see this get delivered near to spec, and loved the release of the Titans expansion later.

I do not play very often, but I do love me some AI skirmishing. The biggest turn off for me is the spherical nature of the maps, while this is the key selling point, for me it makes the game a bit tougher to play and probably acts as an accesibility gap for newcomers.

I'd love to see new units, maybe cheap and well monitsed to keep you guys funded.
And for me personally, a non PA 2D pancake mode would give me a simpler environment to learn how to play and relax a bit in skirmish.

Heh, this is just like when you get a call from your ex. Steam only release instead of DRM free also on e.g. Humble and fragmenting the playerbase by releasing paid dlc (titans) and releasing (1.0) an unfinished game broke it, and now I'm hanging up. *click*

Been a while since I've had a chance to play, but looking forward to see what will happen going forward :)
Hopefully I'll have more time for gaming in the future and can get back into this

im with christian, this was a feature that should never have been removed, the game is significantly lesser for its omission, please bring it back, but i welcome the news that the game will continue to be developed, there are not enough good RTS games out there, and PA is one of the shining stars, i'll always be here to buy in if you continue to make these types of things, good luck going forward

This is an unexpected surprise, and all I can say is... please re-implement dynamic planet collisions with craters that depend on relative size. It was the biggest selling point of the game for me, and I and my friends stopped playing when it was removed.

We need the original tech team (Sorian included) to be back and bring this game one step beyhond from a technical perspective ! My 16 threads are fed up being so lazy :D Plus, "Ashes of the singularity" is lacking all the Epicness and nervosity Of PA/supcom/fa. We need you to be back !!!!!

Oh wow, my mates and I only just happened to play another 5 hours of it last week. Extremely keen to offer some more suggestions and other feedback, as we didn't have a super positive experience. Looking forward to improvements and being able to all get together and play PA the way it was meant to be played.

      Looking forward to it :)

I would so love to come back and play this game. If the servers will become more powerful to really embrace asteroids and big games in the late stages... This game has still the potential to be the best RTS there is. Cannot wait to hear more about the plans and progress. Might there be an expansion coming out as well?

How about Monday Night Combat Inc?

That is super exciting! PA was the first game I ever backed on KS. I'm really happy to see its support is going to be ramping up again.

    14. DrZ on

      Well I wasn't expecting that...
I'm certainly interested to see where you take the game, moving forward.

AS THE GREAT GAME WAS FORMED IN THE EYES OF THE CREATOR
AND BLESSED OUR WORLD WITH ITS PRESENCE
A NEW ERA OF TIME HAD DAWNED

BUT AS IT FADED OUT OF THIS DIMENSION
AND CEASED TO EXIST IN ANY FORM,
MUCH SADNESS BEGAT THE SOULS OF THE PEOPLE
AND THE UNIVERSE HATH LOST ITS PURPOSE

AND AS IT COMETH BACK MANY TIMES,
OUR HEARTS WARMED BY EACH RESURRECTION
AND OUR SOULS CRUSHED WITH EACH PASSING

      ALL HOPE WAS LOST
AS IT FODE AWAY FOR ETERNITY

BUT ONCE MORE, IT COMETH BACK
      AND THE PEOPLE REJOYCED

AND LIFE HATH HAVE MEANING ONCE AGAIN

Will the documentary be coming out (IIRC footage was taken and is done)? I'm not an RTS fan and so actually haven't played much PA, but I backed because I liked Uber and I like game dev documentaries.

Assuming you can't take the project on yourselves as I think was originally the plan, Noclip or On Doubt would probably be good partners!

    18. Charles Gulotta on

My biggest problem with PA is the globe setup on the maps. I would play the heck out of it if it was the flat maps like Forged Alliance. I cannot stand the globe maps and is the biggest blocker from playing

      Great news!

I've gone back and converted my old license to a Steam license, but apparently that code didn't include the Titans version. How do I convert my key to the newer version?

      Thanks!

This is great news, what are the plans to fund this since I imagine the Kickstarter money dried out long ago?

Is there any way to get new momentum for the game? (A la no man's sky next patch )

It's about time! PA is probably the best RTS released in the past 6 years. I hope it continues to grow.
