So you're implementing Steam achievements, but still haven't given us offline mode/DRM-free, as promised in the original pitches?
As an alpha and beta backer, (mid-alpha conversion), I feel that I need to stress that you have not only an obligation, but also a responsibility to deliver on your promises of features you stated and took money from us for, as part of the main game. The game has launched, and we still don't have a unit cannon in the game, Galactic War remains an unfinished stretch-goal--with the single-player component delivery being an extreme opposite of what the majority of backers expected when the stretch goal was made. Specifically that it would be aa multi-system spanning war involving far more than ten or 12 players.
While trading cards, badges, and achievements may seem interesting. These features should be at a much lower priority than delivering on features that took initial seed money from us, and your failure to be honest about it has disappointed me greatly as a backer.
It probably doesn't make a difference to you now, having made far more money from early access and the official release of the game. But know this, that any future projects you kickstart won't be as successful as this, from the dishonesty and deflection that you've done.
I greatly enjoyed early alpha and much of the beta, but have been disappointed since near release and post release. I hope that someday you may deliver on your promises.
How exciting. Now that you've got that out of your system maybe you can go back and provide the drm free product that you initially claimed you would, rather than copying EA with the SimCity fiasco.

As a backer I don't care about that crap. How about an offline version of the game and maybe a tutorial?
One thing i've learned from this experience is never kickstart anything. Ever. Also how about an Easy mode for AI? Not everyone is a l33t haxx0r player.
The worst part is that you continue to plug your fingers in your ears and go la la alala laalalalalala we don't hear you!! when people say "Offline version?" like we're stupid. We're not. Actually we are, we backed a game from studio that abandoned two games.

Preface: I haven't played PA in a LONG time. And I'm totally jumping on the bandwagon here but,
Not to jump on the bandwagon or anything, but are we getting a save function any time soon? I was disappointed by the reviews when the game came out. It sounds like the game came out with quite a few flaws. Though I appreciate the community aspects (and I was thinking just a few weeks ago, that if you were going to release the game only on steam, it should at least have trading cards/achievements), I think that I'm not the only one who thinks that we need to have some of the flaws looked at. I would think that save-game functionality would be kind of top of the list, since that seems like a true blunder in the production of the game.
you guys fail as developers. not even for breaking promises, but for completely ignoring the people that made this project possible.

Why the are you wasting our money on Steam (literally) before delivering the goods as promised? Being forced to login into ubernet to play is a form of DRM, I put my money down on the promise of a DRM free game, not this half baked piece of manure that doesn't even have a decent manual.
You shame the memory of T.A. by associating this game with it.
Offline / LAN play support
By popular demand we are happy to announce that we will support LAN play and running your own servers! There will be elements of the game that are online only and will only be available when connected. For example things like player stats, auto-updating, metagame etc. However, we feel it’s important to be able to have an offline experience as well.
For offline play, the game will be DRM free. For online play that gives you access to the global community and social features, you will need to be logged in.

This is Bullshit! Sorry, but I'm just saying how it is. At least be honest with your backers, without whom you would never have gotten the funding for the game.

@Uber, thanks for the update! Keep up the good work.
@Rest of you lot- really?! *If* you'd been following the forum you'd know Uber have made it quite clear they are working on the server for offline mode. That's a pretty major feature so it's going to take a while. They have a team of 30 people, all with different skills and experience, so it makes sense that some of them would reasonably be working on things *other* than the server, and personally I think it's good they're releasing them as and when things become ready.
@Footitt Yes considering they've designed an always online game offline mode is a pretty major feature but perhaps they shouldn't have designed a server only game if they were going promise a drm free game. Also we are now "Release" + 3.5 weeks. If Uber released an incomplete, broken, non-functional game that's their fault and the customers have a right to complain. During the alpha and beta I wasn't thrilled with it being drm only but I'd managed to get the mistaken impression that it was for crash reports, performance metrics and the like rather than that the game was being made fundamentally different to what they'd promised in their their pitch.
So, color me incredibly disappointed that Uber can't take the tiniest bit of time to manage their communications in a professional manner.
How hard would it have been to add a teeny little update on offline in this update? Hell, even a small update on the latest build release. But no. lets just announce irrelevant features that add zero to the game itself and make everyone think you're just dicking around. Good call.
@Footitt Also I am quite aware of Uber's "communication" on this issue which consists solely of "soon"(never mind that before it was "soon" it was "at launch") so that doesn't really seem to amount to much. However as Andrew has just said it's Uber's job to handle their communications properly with updates not rely on people finding information buried in the forums(and any complaints about drm tend to end up in a locked thread so they do fall off the first page).
Thanks for the update, team! While I can understand why many of my fellow backers are upset, I do appreciate getting new features as they're ready!
It wouldn't hurt to get an update on how those other features are progressing, though, especially with the game having already been released.
Maybe you should work on finishing the game instead of adding unnecessary aesthetic shit. That can come AFTER the game is complete.
I won't jump in joy either but I don't blame other backers taking this kind of news as taunt, along with the shameless plug that appear quite a bit about your "other" supposedly free game which as nothing to do in the updates stream.
I started to play some of the game now that it is out and some missing pieces are annoying like not being able to save ingame, so when you see a news like that how can we react ? What would you do ?
