About this project
Help Support Traditional Irish Dance in the United States
While there is a strong and vibrant community of traditional Irish dancers throughout the United States, it is difficult for dancers to learn new dances unless someone brings them over from Ireland. Our goal is to host workshops with a master set and ceili dancer - Ultan Mulcahy of Country Limerick - to teach new and exciting dances through intense workshops. We will culminate this fun week with a Ceili Mor featuring an excellent live band.
Ceili and set dances are beautiful, intricate, exciting and energetic components of the Irish music and art tradition. They are a unique cultural experience worth preserving and passing on to future generations. Your support will allow us to continue this rich and fascinating heritage.
The workshops will be held in Chicago at the Irish American Heritage Center in August 2012.
