AS FEATURED ON:
A Leap of Style is my dream of being a designer come to life. That dream began with a pair of cloud printed pants crafted carefully on my mother's Singer sewing machine (those pants subsequently ripped in the butt when I bent down to grab books from my locker) circa 1999. But, sometime after that I let the dream go. It wasn't until recently that I decided to take a leap of faith and chase that dream down.
Since last April, I've been a one woman machine, working day and night to crank out designs for my growing number of customers. That list of customers even includes a boutique here in Houston.
I've experienced some early success with A Leap of Style in the last year, and now I am ready to produce a full collection with your help! I've worked with a professional pattern maker and sewing contractor to bring these samples to Kickstarter. Backing this project will take A Leap of Style to the next level by allowing me to produce more pieces, faster.
A Leap of Style pieces are designed to be super-wearable, and to most importantly be flattering to a variety of figures all while incorporating vibrant, globally inspired prints. A Leap of Style is a brand for the woman who wants to add some interesting, versatile pieces to her closet that make her feel beautiful and feminine.
I source fabrics from around the globe to bring those elements of print and color to the line. The Blue/Bird Collection is a Kickstarter exclusive and features Ankara fabrics, which are experiencing a global revival. Ankara is a type of wax-printed fabric, similar to batik, that is traditionally found in West African countries.
The Blue/Bird Collection and features a bright, bold blue print as well as a more subtle print of birds aligned in circles. Feeling daring? Go for The Blue Print! Want to test the waters? Leap with the birds!
I've also incorporated this beautiful, drapey Solid Ink (navy) fabric in this collection for backers who aren't ready to take the print leap just yet (but I bet you'll want to soon!)
Either way you'll look amazingly classy in an A Leap of Style design because I've focused on a fit that is timeless.
Each piece in the collection was tested for fit at least twice before I considered it production-ready.
The dresses, skirt, and blouse in this collection are cut to keep you feeling beautiful, playful, and maybe even a little racy - but always classy. Each piece is designed to flatter a variety of shapes and to give a classic backdrop to the print.
My current customers come for the prints and return for the consistent fit - I'll make you a believer, too.

A: Nope! Once the campaign is fully funded, I'll send out a survey asking for info for all of this info, as well as your mailing address.
Q: When will my account be charged?
A: Your account will only be charged on May 30 when the campaign reaches its goal. If for some reason the campaign does not reach its goal, your account will never be charged.
Risks and challenges
A Leap of Style will be turning 1 at the start of this campaign, and we may be young, but we’re ready! Over the course of the last year, I have launched two small collections that have been met with local success. I have consulted, and continue to work with several industry professionals who have guided my management of this process. However, as with any project of this scale there are risks involved. The first major challenge is that I use fabrics that are so unique they may go out of print before I get a chance to fulfill all orders. If this happens, I will provide backers with a choice of alternative, equally bold and beautiful prints that still meet the design aesthetic. The second risk is of course in timing of delivery. I've allowed a window of nearly 4 months to completely source fabrics, go into production, and ship out to you. I think this is plenty of time, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. Again, I've done most of the upfront legwork to prevent timing issues (i.e. 50% of fabrics sourced, contractor ready to go, fulfillment folks ready to package and ship) as well as given a pretty large cushion. I don't anticipate issues here. I'll do my very best to communicate any issues that may arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
