Who hasn’t been in a group of people who can’t decide on what restaurant to visit or where to order food from? What’s for Dinner? is a light and quick game designed to cleanse the palate, inspire hungry players, and maybe even give the winner the right to decide dinner plans.

Grab meals that match your traits before other players snatch them up, or you might end up going without. Maybe that one delicious meal you’ve got your eye on would break your diet, but is it worth the risk?

What's For Dinner? can be played with younger players alongside more seasoned, strategic gamers.

This game can solve life's greatest debate: What's for dinner?

If you like card management hand management, if you like games that are very fast and easy to set up and teach and can be played with younger gamers and casual gamers, but also can be played with heavier gamers who are looking for something a little more strategic, but may want something just a little more light at the beginning or end of a night [check out this game].   -Nick Meenachan

Unfiltered Gamer

I enjoyed this quite profusely!.... The objectives give it a nice twist [as well], and adds more strategy.....  You can play it anywhere you want.   -Michael J. Wright

Industry leaders for playtesting, helping to make good games, great games

"What's For Dinner takes players from the tabletop and puts them at a dinner table with friends to offer a fun and fast paced social experience. There are many games that have themes around the food industry, but they focus on specific mechanical aspects within the game structure. What's For Dinner is a fun experience that playtesters enjoyed because they were unique players with a specific diet and had the opportunity to joke and laugh as meals were revealed and dice were rolled."

“[The cheeseburger game box] looks so good just seeing it in person… love the fact that there was the Dumpster motif at the bottom of the box that you actually use during the game” —Ryan Gutowski

Each player chooses 2 of 3 Trait cards passed out, which represents the kind of Meal cards you’ll try to order or stay away from. One Trait card is visible, and the other is hidden from other players.

When it’s your turn, you roll the Food Die, and you can choose from the Food Pyramid one Meal card that has a symbol matching the die.

If you roll a food group you don’t want, not to worry! You can either pay for a Meal card with money from Wallet cards in your hand, or you can play other Wallet cards for effects that might help you satisfy that craving.

When the Meal cards run out, count up the points on all of the Meals you’ve ordered, and score additional points if you managed to fulfill one or both of your Traits. Whoever has the most points wins the game!

Risks and challenges

Apart from a few final cosmetic tweaks and the handling of additional items from stretch goals or certain backer rewards, the game is completely laid out and ready to head to manufacturing. After addressing the additional items necessitated by this Kickstarter campaign, we anticipate being able to send the game to the manufacturer shortly after the successful completion of this campaign. This should allow us to get the game in backers' hands as soon as possible.

We are working with BoDa Board Game Co., Ltd for manufacturing.
