Update #7

"Yearning"

Comment

Greetings Backers and Soon to be Backers,

We have reached our goal!! All your funding will go through and we will be sending your rewards out very soon. Thank you so much to all who contributed. And there are still 10 days left, so please continue to tell your friends and family about the great project.

Now I go into the phase of gathering all the materials, information, and people necessary to finish off this album. First, we need to find a CD press that can do a short run pressing of our audio onto disc. Also, we need to pay our illustrious sound engineer for his generous time give to this project. Then we need to find some nice, white, CD sized sleeves. These will be given to the beautiful people at One Way Screen Printing in Hadley MA to print the cover of the album on the front. We will also be sending our lovely album cover artist, Mara Eagle, a sum for her invaluable work with the image.  Next, we send that, along with some nice off white card stock, to get the liner notes and the track listing and whatnot info letter pressed by Flying Object Letter Pressing in Hadley MA.

Lastly I would like to thank Kyle Anderson who has volunteered some of his time to help with the designing of the album. And that you all, because without all your help none of this would have happend.

Ok, music.

So this next track "Yearning" was originally a solo guitar piece, but it got a little cramped. Playing this piece with Eliot opened it up immensely. Again, here is a very long track, so for this preview I had to cut it in half.

Thank you all, and we hope to hear you soon

Isaac and Eliot

Update #5

"Hopeful Struggle"

Comment

Greetings Backers and Soon-to-be Backers,

We are so close to reaching our goal!! Thank you all so much for your support. Now we just need to raise a little more to fully reach our goal, and then everything else is just the icing on the cake.

Eliot and I have taken this sort of down time to work on new sounds, and reflect on the sounds that inspire us. We have started to explore placing contact microphones, that I built, onto the acoustic piano in order to capture an audio signal that Eliot then runs through a loop. With this we can double or triple, or whatever the size and depth of our sound sculpturing and manipulate the acoustic signal in different ways. I have started working with an old electric guitar that I have fixed up, and using a volume pedal to give the more electric sound a very delicate presence and dynamic swell. Lots of fun sounds.

Of late, the sounds that have inspired both Eliot and I are ones that are very closely related to our music. My teacher Mike Baggetta's most recent duo "Tin/Bag" album with Kris Tiner is a huge influence for our music in its structure for song, and overwhelming sense of restraint in technique. Another inspiration is Adam Rudolphs newest release with multi-instrumentalist Ralph Jones, "Merely a traveler on the Cosmic Path". Another duo record, but with a pianist at points, this recording teaches poise and pause, and the full presence of one's intuition. The last recording I will talk about is a very new and recently found one for me. I have always been a fan of Derek Bailey, but I had never heard his duo record with pianist Agusti Fernandez. This record is a true inspiration, in that is exactly the same instrumentation as In Example, but it sounds so different.

Anyways, here is another track from our soon to be release album. "Hopeful Struggle" is just that, and I could only upload half of the track because it is so long. So here is Eliot's solo portion of the tune. Hope you all enjoy. And please let your friends and family know about this wonderful project, we would love any and all of your support.

Thanks,

Eliot and Isaac

Update #4

"Joyful Songbird; Has Flown"

Comment

Greetings Backers and soon-to-be backers,

We have some new backers as of today. Special thanks to Michelle and Mike for the generous and loving support.

Not much to update, other then allowing you all to hear the fourth track from the album that you are all supporting. Also, keep in mind May 12th at 7:00pm in Burlington Vermont @ The Radio Bean In Example will perform. The Radio Bean is a great intimate venue to hear all sorts of sounds and see all kinds of performances. Please check out our performance if you can, or let your friends know about it. There are many great happenings at the Radio Bean.

The fourth track of the album, "Joyful Songbird; Has Flown", is a ballade composed by myself, and brought to life by both Eliot and I. This is a very personal composition, so please inquire about this composition and recording personally. Otherwise enjoy the sounds.

Many thanks,

Isaac and Eliot
