Hello Fabulous Friends and Fans!
You've been coming to our shows for almost three years now, dancing til your feet burn and your hair is full of glitter, and you've been amazingly supportive as we made the grand leap from being a dragstar-fronted cover band to a dragstar-fronted purveyor of original tunes -- and now it's time for us to reward your loyalty with a full-length album! We want you to be able to dance to our music around your living room, at red lights in your car, in the back room at work -- and we need your help to make this magical thing happen!
We, Johnny Blazes and The Pretty Boys, are working on an album that will pick up where we left off with the release of our single/b-side earlier this year: Blue Skies/Nothing to Say. We'll include both of those tracks, along with 8 other brand-spanking new tunes -- and one surprise cover tune! (Ok, not so surprising, if you know our penchant for the callipygous...) We'll be working with David Minehan at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham. We worked with him on the single, and we love his style, sense of humor, and the love he brings to this project!
According to our calculations, tracking 11 instruments for that many tunes will take at least 80 hours of studio time. Editing and mixing will add another 40-80 hours. After that, we'll send the album to be mastered, pressed into CDs, and shipped to us. We'll be hiring a graphic designer to help create the cover art and do the layout for the CD jacket. We expect that this project will end up tallying in the range of $12,000 - $15,000. We've saved up a big chunk of that from our years of playing kickass shows, but we need help making up the rest!
We are asking you to help us raise $10,000 by August 31. We're really excited about the rewards we have to offer you, and we're grateful for every single donation, from the smallest to the largest. We love you and are thankful for your support!

Risks and challenges
We learned a lot from our last stint in the recording studio! We've figured out ways to be more effective with how we use our time, and the band has gotten much tighter, so we need fewer takes to get the gold. There are always unexpected snags along the way in any project, but Johnny and Darth have been working together as a team for 30 years now, so they have lots of strategies for staying on course!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
