THE SCHOOL BUS ROLLING SHOP: BAMBA
Mexico City is an important, rich, and dynamic megacity with an extremely wide territory.
The population has grown exponentially by more than 20 million people in just over 110 years. Like any other city, it has its common problems, like traffic jams and over crowded public transportation, making everything more far from everything.
These transit problems, paired with mass consumption lifestyle leads people to follow the flow and run into shopping malls which mostly gather companies proposing standardized clothing and design.
For us, globalization is literally killing what is cool about shopping.
Far from the ambition of changing the face of the world (but we keep on thinking how), the “BAMBA” project will be an alternative for all of those who face one of these problems with a mobile platform, displaying a selection of local and international clothing, design and art items, responding to 4 essential requirements:
• Identity (Limited pieces, less chance to look like your neighbor)
• Originality (Our local and international designers will not be ruled by mass marketing)
• Saving money (We will make sure that all of our items will be reasonably affordable)
• Hunting down the best items (we want to be the shop that will always have cool stuff)
The choice of a mobile shop would allow us to be everywhere without having to pick an established location in the city, making every single place in the city a chilled and friendly meeting point.
The positive relationship between our team, our product selection and our customers would be thanks to our transformed school bus.
You will no longer need to reach us; we will be around the corner next to you at some point of the week.
BAMBA will not only stand as an alternative to retail routine, but also provide a way to work with independent TALENTS, which are the heart of the project.
The world is full of emerging and recognizable designers and artists, who would use BAMBA as a platform to display their creations.
From Mexico city to Shanghai, passing by Paris, artists will have a place to exist and be promoted all over Mexico city and around the world in our website.
With the help of Kick-starter and backers believing in BAMBA, We want to raise a minimum of 8000 dollars to buy the school bus, and transform it in a cool and attractive mobile shop able to welcome anyone passing by its route.
It is an all or nothing concept: By contributing you will help us reach our goal, and receive one of our first BAMBA Branded articles.
Please don’t forget: to exist, the project needs to reach the 8000 dollars minimum.
Thank you for taking your time reading what BAMBA will be about, Make sure not to miss the bus!
Risks and challenges
Even as newbies in the bus transformation world, we have the luck to have in our entourage, some high qualified interior designers and mechanic genius ready to help us, and of course many artists and handy friends ready to share some of there time and knowledge to make the BAMBA BUS a really special place.
Offering the best of local and international projects will be a real challenge, considering the big amount of talent in the country and around the world.
We already spotted more than 50 Mexican designers in less than 3 months, scouting and looking for amazing work is one of our passion, this task will be a endless hunt.
Finally, taming this huge yellow monster and knowing how to drive, park, and take care of it will be our biggest challenge, hours of practice and time will certainly do the job.
