you're reading this...THANK YOU! this is a fundraiser to help me make my next studio album "Twenty Dollar Leap Year" (at least that is the working title...last november, i was convinced i was turning forty when - with my dad's mathematical insight - i discovered that, in fact, i was only turning 39 (i know)! it was like finding an unexpected twenty dollar bill in your jeans pocket. but better). so i found this year.... and what better to do with it than to make another record. i rather love my new songs (if it's ok for me to say that). I haven't made a studio record in three years and it would make my (leap) year to be able to dress up my catalogue of new songs with beauteous studio production and make them all shiny and purdy. i can't do this without your help. i'm sorry to have to ask for assistance, yet again, but i hope there is worth in it for you as well in knowing that you played an active role in bringing the music into being. i feel absolutely blessed to have the thoughtful and supportive fan base that i do and i would not be doing this if not for their letting me know in ways big and small that my music matters to them.
the project: provided the fundraising is successful, i plan to go into the studio at the end of august. i hope to work with the same studio engineer and many of the same top tear musicians that played on "new siberia" and "the near demise of the high wire dancer" and hopefully with some new talent as well!
again, thank you for being part of my musical journey all these years...
Risks and challenges
my first kickstarter campaign did prove to be more all-encompassing than i ever expected. filling the personal prize orders took longer than i thought it would and there was a slight delay with the recording process which i took care to inform people about. having never done this type of mass-mailing and fulfillment before i had under-estimated the time it would take. this time, i have more experience so i am hoping that my time line is more realistic this time, but set-backs do happen. the main goal is to make the best record i can and so slight delays are inevitable but i don't expect any drastic issues. there weren't any problems last time and not a single complaint was issued about the minor delays. donors seemed very happy which made me happy in turn.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
