About this project
About the project
The clothes that people wear are a reflection of who they are and what they're interested in. Our company has always produced clothing that does just that... Coming from a music background we are all hip hop heads, and there is no denying the influence that J Dilla has had on us, others, and hip hop in general.
In honor of the man that changed music and lives (and continues to do so) we are producing this shirt to commemorate him. Like all of our shirts, the design is completely original and the credit for this one goes to The Kid Ninja. J Dilla's likeness is used with informed consent from Ma Dukes and the J Dilla Foundation.
About the shirts
The design will be screen printed on our great quality shirts, which will also be tagless with our printed inside label. The t-shirts are 6oz. and 100% cotton which are preshrunk to minimize shrinkage with a double-needle bottom hem and sleeves. We are offering both black and white shirts and a $5 savings in you choose the reward level for both.
This Kickstarter is the only place you can get these shirts. There is a chance that they may be available again in the future, but the price will definitely be higher.
If you have worn our shirts before than you already know about our quality, fit, and attention to detail. If you haven't, to give you an idea our t-shirts were recently described as "Some of the best fitting, best looking tee's I've worn, and tees is all I wear." People tend to love our fit because they are slightly larger than the average t-shirt. We don't go for that schmedium look, this is hip hop!
Sizing for the shirts are as follows:
About the rewards
Of course the goal here is to get the shirts made and into your hands, you can read more about the shirts above. There are die cut stickers made using the same design from the shirts for those who just want to contribute or want some slaps. They will measure approximately 5" tall. If you would like to add some stickers to any shirt reward level, simply over-pledge:
- $10 for 3 stickers
- $15 for 5 stickers
- $20 for 10 stickers
Depending on funding, we may be adding some other additional reward tiers as well.
No Love City is an independently owned clothing company that has been in business for over 6 years. We draw our design inspirations from hip hop, street art, and tattoo cultures, the very things that we love. We make things with original designs that appeal to various genres and styles while taking great pride in the look and quality of our products. For more information on us, please visit our links below.
The shirt and sticker images shown here are mockups. Actual products may vary slightly in color tone, graphic size/positioning, etc, but nothing major. The mockups are meant to be a true guideline of the intended final product.
Risks and challenges
We have been doing this for a long time, so we don't expect any issues post completion of the campaign, but things do happen. We take pride in our products, and quality control is quite important to us. So, if we aren't completely satisfied with the finished product that we've created, there may be some delay in order to straighten out any kinks to ensure that everyone gets the quality product that they backed. That being said, we have a very conservative estimated delivery date on the rewards and fully expect to be able to deliver on time, but more likely earlier than expected.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
After the campaign has ended (provided we meet/exceed our goal) you will be sent a 'survey' to verify things like your mailing address and shirt size(s).
Black shirts just cost more money to make. From the shirts themselves to the screen printing, they are simply more costly to produce over white shirts.
Yes. J Dilla's likeness and the design was approved for usage on these shirts.
As it stands now, these shirts will only be available to those who back this Kickstarter, chosing a shirt as a reward. We only intend to produce the number of shirts to cover the rewards. There is a chance of overruns, and in that instance they would be sold on our webstore at a higher price. If there is an overwhelming demand in the future for this design it may be produced again, but there is currently no intention of doing so, and if it is done it would be at a higher price.
Kickstarter has restrictions on rewards with bulk quantities. But if you're wanting a large amount of shirts simply choose the $25 reward and over-pledge $25 x # of shirts wanted. Be sure to send us a message letting us know that you are doing so, otherwise we may just think you are quite generous!
