This forgotten little town is plagued with secrets...
Full of murder, intrigue, and excitement, Legacy of Len (OGL) is a drop-in location with unique dungeons and mechanics (a clockwork dungeon?!!), a large assortment of never before seen magic items, and a series of quests for your new or existing 5e or Pathfinder campaign with a vibrant cast of characters and creatures. Easy to add to nearly any campaign setting and suitable for any party, good or evil, noble or villainous, this adventure module will help you guide your players through every sort of challenge they could imagine. To get your players more invested in your campaign, we have included an expansion card deck and rules outlining player "homesteading" and town management to give PCs a place to hang their helms between adventures. The expansion is standalone, not tied to any setting, and can be used with this module or in your own campaigns.
How this module benefits the GM While every quest in this module ties together into one long adventure starting at level 2 and ranging to level 5 and beyond, many of them are not required to played in any specific order, allowing much more freedom for you and your players to naturally create your own path. Furthermore, as the GM, you can even pick and choose individual quests from this module to add to your own campaign at will. Whether you use all of the quests or just a few, you will find tons of hooks for creating your own story with your players, or simply follow the journey we have laid out for you.
How the card expansion benefits the GM As game managers, we know that rules referencing can take up quite a bit of your valuable time, so adding more rules and systems to an already reference-heavy game can seem a bit daunting. That is why we have done our utmost to streamline and simplify our player homesteading expansion to fit into any game you run with the supported systems. By tracking all the additions to your players settlements with cards, we have eliminated the repeated rule referencing by allowing all necessary information about your players settlements growth and prosperity to be kept in your players homesteading deck. GMs and players alike will be able to see all the improvements, additions, and benefits from the town they have built at a glance, translating into more playtime and less page flipping! As an added bonus, in testing this system we have found our players more invested in their setting which translates into more interesting roleplaying.
Once a thriving tradepost and steeped in history, this town now lies in near ruin, and not for the first time. Ages before Len was founded, the land was home to another society, long since vanished. When reports of strange occurrences and missing persons reach your players, will they uncover the secrets that plague this town above and below the surface? Will they restore this mysterious hamlet to its former prosperity, or be the linchpin in its destruction?
Quests and encounter locations have been meticulously designed from the ground up to offer unique dungeon mechanics and settings with over half a dozen full color maps, including dungeon, region, and isometric maps. More to be added with stretch goals!
The homesteading expansion deck will add new life to your existing campaign and a brand new mechanic to this and any other adventures you choose for your players. By allowing your players to manage a settlement without getting bogged down in rules, the homesteading expansion gives your players a stake in the world they are roleplaying in, as well as a place to resupply and prepare for the next stage of their campaign. The simple yet deep card system allows effortless management and tracking of the settlement's prosperity and provides tons of hooks for quests, encounters, and other player challenges. Improving their settlement translates into actual in game benefits for the players, further enticing them to commit to their character.
The cast of characters included in this module are thoroughly detailed with backstories, intertwining and conflicting interests, and provided with interactions to fully animate the town. The creatures have been painstakingly created and given distinctive abilities to enhance encounters.
Among the various card types used in the homesteading expansion are event cards detailing encounters and challenges for your players, improvement cards showcasing what your players have achieved to enhance their settlements and tally the benefits from them, and npc cards to track the current inhabitants and the goods and services available from them. An additional 4 cards, featuring the pinnacle dungeon in the module, will be included to help illustrate its secret design mechanic.

Designer, writer. Hey all, JD here, Chicago native and long time adventurer. Tabletop gaming has been a passion of mine since the early 90s when I got my first AD&D book. When I'm not captaining my sailboat, developing my coding skills, or on working adventure modules like this one, you can usually find me on steam under the handle CaptainBadf1sh. Come find me, let's play something! Contact.
Artist, Designer. Hi, I'm Shane Majewski from Canberra Australia. I've been into role playing games, usually as the GM for 23 years, and drawing even longer. Making games has always been the dream! You can check out more of my digital works on my website. Contact.
Our big goal is to make a first person fantasy video game, featuring many of the ideas that have been used in Legacy of Len. We decided to make this adventure first as something of a proof of concept. For our long term plans this remains foremost in our minds.
Since we enjoyed the process of making this written adventure, we're considering the possibility of further adventures under the Shrouded Mists and Profitable Ventures title. Our chief idea is a mega dungeon that builds upon the new mechanics we've created for Len, as well as presenting its own unique mechanisms for changing the dungeon's form through play - and of course an interesting story supported by detailed NPCs.
Risks and challenges
As dedicated tabletop gamers with nearly 50 years of experience between us, nothing will stand in the way of our completion of this project. Without the proper funding this project will simply take a bit longer to complete. We have thus far prepared and outlined the majority of the content we are including in this module and expansion, and will still offer PDF's and special order prints should our kickstarter goal remain unmet, though most likely at a slightly higher cost then the pledge levels currently state.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
