About this project
WELCOME TO OUR KICKSTARTER PAGE!
WHAT IS OCCULT GENERATION?
In a nutshell, Occult Generation is a hardboiled sci-fi supernatural graphic novel set in 1920s New York. It's about a private detective who investigates the murder of a notorious drag performer and in the process, uncovers a secret war between remnants of the confederacy equipped with strange technology and a secret society in Harlem that fights for justice through magic.
The story pulls from memorable elements of the 1920s era while holding a magnifying glass up to people of color, mystics, immigrants, queer life, gender roles, body awareness, political corruption and the dawn of equity feminism. The readers of the graphic novel are going to see blood, violence, sexuality and other Rated-R material, yet it all has a purpose to tell the story. In all of this, we fully get to examine the spectrum of humanity from a unique historical context without having to hold back with our audience.
The art of Occult Generation is a collaboration with real life models and actors that play the characters in the story. We do this by casting talent to embody their characters which allows the energy and emotion to shine through each panel. The beauty of having a photorealistic graphic novel is that it gives a type of sex appeal to the visuals that we hope has our audience wanting more as they turn each page.
As creatives, we have a passion to build pathways of communication and this graphic novel series has the potential to set the stage for important conversations in the comic book community and beyond. Occult Generation is a valuable endeavor that can provide an opportunity for controversial topics to stand in the forefront of discussions in society. Though it is set in the 1920s, the parallels to today's world are very apparent. Our intention with this book is to open up more permission to step outside of the box and allow people to find their own answers around the concepts that matter to them (and to have fun doing it!).
Our team of top notch creatives are committed to being fearless about their art and communicate about things that are important to them in the world. Without our unique collaborative process, this would not be possible. Throughout the campaign we’ll share the personal stories of our cast and crew so you can get to know our amazing team yourself.
Production for Chapter 1 (Issue #1) is nearly completed, yet we need the funds for printing/distribution and to start production on the rest of the book. This campaign will cover those printing and distribution costs so we can put physical copies in your hands and prove how awesome Occult Generation can be.
If we are successful in reaching our goal, we will add stretch goals for Chapter 2 and beyond.
Once this campaign is completed successfully, we’ll work to produce what has been funded through this campaign and announce plans to fund the remaining chapters.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PLEDGE?
When you pledge, it goes directly toward production to cover the costs associated with creating, producing, printing and distributing all things Occult Generation. Among them:

Don't forget to check out the perks on right hand column!
Here are some examples of what they could look like:
LONG TERM GOAL
Our larger goal is to finish the book in its entirety (over 200 pages) and get it published.
Eventually, we will continue to move forward working with more artists and writers where we can create stories that matter to people and truly find new perspectives in the entertainment industry. Occult Generation is merely the beginning and there is much more to come!
Thank you for visiting our page and being apart of Occult Generation!
Risks and challenges
There are two challenges we can foresee:
1. All the art is illustrated by 1 person. While doing what he loves to do, this stud also has to work and make a living. The team is always coming up with more efficient ways to get better at the artistic process.
2. Printing - if there isn't a labor strike at sea, everything will be golden!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
