I'm a big fan of horror and the supernatural in their many forms, so whether it's movies, tv shows, novels or comic books, it is something I've loved for years and I wanted to find a suitable medium to show off my ideas and I think these postcards are a great way to start this.
The postcards draw their influence from Roman and Greek mythology, literature and the more modern takes on Hell, demons and the Devil.
I think I've managed to inject enough humour into what can be a dark subject and I hope this shows In the illustrations that show off my particular version of Hell.
There are 8 different postcards in each set which are A6 in size and have been litho printed on 350gsm Invercote G, FSC (mix credit) Board. If that doesn't mean anything to you ( it certainly doesn't to me! ) then it is a thick quality card, similar in thickness to a ceral box I would say.
The illustrations have been done ever so well by Paul Loudon who has done seven of the eight postcards and Vanessa Wells who drew the first ( Hellhound Inn #1 ). Although I came up with the ideas and then sketched/scawled them, the real artists took those crazy thoughts and scribbles and made them amazing.
The 8 Postcards from Hell
If you want to get to the Underworld then Charon is the guy to get you there. What he lacks in conversational skills he makes up with the ability to row and shine a lamp at the same time.
Don't bother asking if he takes contactless payment, as an oar in the face usually offends. Cash only!
There's nothing like a nice refreshing pint of beer at the local pub at the end of of a hard days work but unfortunately the beverages here are a bit on the warm side. Demons and expired naughty mortals alike are welcome.
It's the hottest club in Hell ( har har ) and is the place all the movers and shakers of the underworld like to let their hair down. Great bloody mary cocktails!
Let the bellhop take your luggage ( after you've struggled up those stairs ) and check in at the most luxurious hotel Hell has to offer. Don't even try and steal the towels!
They said that you can't take it with you, well they were wrong.
The bright lights of Hell's main gambling strip are beckoning you to come and spend your after-life savings and visit the most popular casino it has to offer.
Whether it's Blackjack, a spin on the roulette wheel , the one armed bandit or a spot of bare knuckle demon fighting that get's your juices flowing and empties your wallet, they have it all and more.
Dante Alighieri told of nine circles of Hell but now there's a tenth and it's sweet, tasty and filled with fatty goodness. Available at all good and terrible Hell-based supermarkets.
Dante would be so proud.
The Uncle Sam image has been replicated in one way or another so many times and this time it's the Devil who wants you, so what are you waiting for? Come on down!
Each card has one of these wonderful images on the front and has been left blank on the back, but if you do want more of a standard postcard reverse then there will be the option to have this hand stamped by yours truly like in the photo below.
With each set of postcards you will also receive 8 lovely faux postage stamps. Now you can not actually send mail with them but they look great and can be stuck onto cards and envelopes alongside real postage stamps.
The Giclée art prints I am offering are printed on high quality Somerset Photo 300gsm so it's much thicker than your usual poster style prints, and shows off the artwork and colours amazingly well. They will be A4 in size and have a 1.2 inch border.
How will the money be used?
The artwork, Ink stamps, wax seal, and also the postcards themselves have already been printed and paid for by me.
The money I am endeavouring to raise will allow me to buy the envelopes, sealing wax, packaging, faux postage stamp stickers in a high enough volume to get them for a reasonable price. The rest will pay for the Kickstarter and payment fees, postage, art prints and extra artwork for the customised rewards.
If the money raised exceeds my expectations then any extra money will go straight into putting together some more postcards and making some other ideas I have a reality. I hope to have some new stuff available for Christmas.
Thank you for taking an interest in my project, I look forward to hearing any feedback and/or questions you may have for me.
What is Kickstarter?
For those of you that don't have a clue about Kickstarter, it is simply a way for artists, inventors, designers, writers etc to share with you their product and it is up to you if you would like to help make it a reality by pledging money. In return you get your chosen goodies but this only happens if the minimum goal amount is reached.
Let's do this!

Risks and challenges
As the postcards have already been printed to a high standard and everything has been priced up the risks are minimal ( I may slip into a coma but if that happens I will be sure to have my next of kin post out your goodies ).
The challenge will be to get everything posted out to the backers in a timely fashion and I am more than confident of doing that without any problems.
My plan is to get everything shipped out by the end of November but this will mainly depend on the time it takes for the fees to come through. The individual postcard rewards will be shipped out first as I already have these to hand and the postage is relatively cheap.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
