About this project
Whether you're a long time patron or its your first time roaming the walls covered in DVDs and aisles of VHSs, you immediately realize that Black Lodge Video is a unique and important member of our community. Offering up a wider selection of films than any chain store could dream, and also carrying many out of print movies that Netflix would never think to stock, Black Lodge is more a hands on Museum of Film Culture than a video rental store. Where else can you find a video store that categorizes and organizes their films not only by genre, but by director and country of origin? You can't. Not within the Memphis city limits, and most assuredly not within the tri state area. This brings us to the reason of this pledge drive.
After a decade, Black Lodge's DVD library has fallen victim to the effects of time. Due not only to the wear and tear from normal use, but also from the neglect we as a community have shown towards the obvious gift Black Lodge has given Memphis by merely existing. We don't want to shy away from that side of the story. But there is hope. Black Lodge's future is bright and radiant, but many of its older movies lie in ruin. Through this pledge drive we hope to breathe new life into those DVDs and help preserve and prolong the lives of future acquisitions.
With your pledges, we here at Fat Sandwich Records hope to raise enough money to buy a resurfacing machine for Black Lodge. Once the goal is met, any excess pledges will go to further improve Black Lodge Video.
We offer a wide range of incentives. Each pledge will come with a certain number of free rentals according to the size of your donation.
This pledge drive has been listed beneath "community" because that is what we are, and as that community, preserving unique establishments within our city is a job left upon our shoulders. If we don't appreciate what we have now, eventually we won't have anything to seperate our community from others.
