A long time ago, in a back yard somewhere in Michigan, my friend Andy gave birth to a new character. His name is 60's Rock George Washington from the Future! Through years of transformations, he had finally found a new home in the world of comic books thanks to yours truly.
The first issue of 60's Rock George Washington from the Future is an introduction into a world unlike any other. You as readers will be treated to laser beams, space ships, and so much more as 60's Rock George Washington visits a bar on a strange planet where he gets himself wrapped up in some serious trouble.
This is my first big undertaking to create an original piece of work and to have it published for readers to enjoy. I've been happy creating many pieces of fan art for some time, but I want to begin sharing my creativity with everyone in the form of something brand new. This is only the beginning of a much bigger adventure, not just for me, but for 60's Rock George Washington from the Future as well.
The goal of this kickstarter is to fund the printing of the first issue of 60's Rock George Washington from the Future. I intend to have 100 copies of the first issue made to be sold at local comic book shops and the 2016 Motor City Comic Convention in Michigan.
The reason I'm asking for $3,000 is so that I can cover for the cost of the 100 copies of 60's Rock George Washington from the Future I plan to sell at stores and the 2016 Motor City Comic Con, the +150 copies that will be given to kickstarter backers (number may be less if more people chose a digital copy), shipping costs, and other expenses like stickers, cassette tapes, posters, etc.
If the kickstarter is more than successful, and reaches well beyond the intended goal, then I will make even more copies and attempt to make an appearance at the 2016 New York Comic Con. If I can't make it to New York Comic Con, then I will invest the money in the creation of the second issue. I will also look into other convention opportunities outside of Michigan if possible if 2016 NYCC is not an option.
Hello everyone, my name is James Easterly. The best way to describe myself is simply as a "creator", as I am not only a illustrator and graphic designer, but also a musician, producer, DJ, writer and dancer. I have been fortunate enough to take part in some amazing experiences, including making art for the nerdcore Hip Hop duo of Mega Ran & K-Murdock, to producing a humble music video for the Japanese rock band The Zoobombs, DJ'ing for the WIDR radio station in Kalamazoo and at Hip Hop events, and much more.
It was some time ago I fell love with the idea of having a mixtape soundtracks for my projects after I heard that Bryan Lee O'Malley did this while working on Scott Pilgrim. Although I can't legally distribute the mixtapes I made for myself, granted I could just post the playlist, I thought it would be more fun to share exclusive music just for this kickstarter and comic book. Oh, I should also mention that the only way to hear it will be on cassette tape.
Rexatronic is a side project of my work as DJ RX-78, where I explore eletronic music such as chiptunes and 80s sounding "New Retro Wave / Synthwave. As much as I would love to have a funk orchestra to record music with, I feel that it would be more fitting to have a style of music that is very reminiscent of 80s scifi. Below is an small taste of what you can expect, as well as what you heard in the kickstarter video.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk in this kickstarter, outside of health issues, would be that the comic book is not printed before the 2016 Motor City Comic Convention.
What will not change is that the comic is going to be finished, and if this kickstarter is successful, everyone will get what they pledged for.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
