In 2009, Writer/Director Ryan M. Kennedy began work on the feature film screenplay, The Projectionist. Production began in 2011 in New York City, followed by an additional two years of long and grueling post production. Five years after the inception of his idea, the vision has finally been realized in full, and the film is ready to find its audience.
Check out the National Press The Projectionist is receiving for it's revolutionary new release model:
The cast features Russ Russo (Shreveport), Doug E. Doug (Cool Runnings, The Cosby Show), Kiowa Gordon (The Twilight Saga, The Lesser Blessed), Natasha Alam (True Blood, Entourage), Joseph R. Gannascoli (The Sopranos, Men In Black 3), Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco), Dominik Tiefenthaler (Boardwalk Empire, The Blacklist, Zero Hour), Kevin Interdonato (CSI: NY, The Sopranos) & Chris LaPanta (The Blacklist, The Following).
Upon witnessing several crowd funding campaigns seeking financing prior to production fall short of their goal, the filmmakers decided to utilize this revolutionary concept [Kickstarter] to finance a different stage of the process than most. Instead of looking to supporters for funds to shoot the film, The Projectionist was financed entirely from independent contributions from friends and family of Director Ryan M. Kennedy and Producer Atit Shah. In doing that, it allowed the filmmakers to finish the film on their own schedule with the limited resources at their disposal, while approaching backers for their support only after having a completely realized finished feature film.
The Projectionist is now seeking support through contributions from backers to take the film to the next level. Not only will a contribution provide you the opportunity to own a limited release special edition copy of The Projectionist immediately following the successful completion of the campaign, but your contribution will go directly towards financing an independent limited theatrical release of the film in major cities across the United States. Following that limited release, The Projectionist will then be made available to viewers around the world through video on demand and other prominent streaming platforms. Our goal is to have the film available on Netflix, Amazon, and iTunes later this year, all of which would be impossible without the backing of our supporters.

Risks and challenges
Although we feel that the hardest work is behind us, we still anticipate obstacles as we enter the next and final stage of this long journey. Reaching our minimum goal will guarantee that we deliver on our promise to release the film theatrically in New York and Los Angeles. A higher number of contributions would allow us to then expand the theatrical release to more cities across the country. In addition to ensuring a limited theatrical release, reaching our goal would also guarantee the films release onto Video On Demand, and prominent streaming platforms around the world.
Unlike most crowdfunding campaigns which promise supporters rewards months or even years down the road, The Projectionist is a completed feature film, which allows us to offer you the incentive of an instant digital download for immediate viewing. DVDs & Blu-Rays will ship immediately following the successful conclusion of the campaign. With your help, you’ll ensure that this film reaches the largest audience possible, and help us in our effort to provide a voice to servicemen and women like Jacob, while continuing to raise awareness on PTSD.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
