February Update, Montreal Joue 2017
Keeping you up to date with current events, here is the news of the month!
In The Shadows will be playable at Société des Art Technologiques during "Montreal Joue" Jeux Indie de Montréal 2017, on Saturday, February 25!
If you live in Montréal, you should come try the game, the event is free to attend. I will bring at least two monitors for people to play. This will probably be the last time I present the game at an event in Montreal before release!
Post PAX South
PAX South was a very nice event, lots of people came by the booth to play the game! Doing events like that takes a lot of time, preparation, but it helps a lot in getting more people to know the game, try it and talk about it. It is also really fun to participate and see people reactions. Players had longer play-through this time around, I am guessing the tweaks that were made to the game made it even better.
In other news, I am still hard at work on the game, still making levels. I feel like I say this a lot but yeah, things take a lot longer than expected, but it progress well.
I also worked on better gamepad support. Trying to support every gamepad on every platform can get really complex. Gamepad on Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox, PS4 all behave a bit differently and to help with that I rewrote a better controller system to handle it. Also one of the advantages of this new system is that it opens the possibility of remapping buttons anyway you want. This can be very useful to anyone who prefer a different mapping or anyone who need a different mapping for accessibility reasons.
Small plug for my friend Radu Muresan who just released his game Semipheres on Steam and PS4! I wanted to share this with you since this is a pretty cool puzzle game that I had the chance to try when we were both participating at GDC 2016 Indie MEGABooth last year. If you like puzzle games, you should definitely check it out!
Like always, thank you all for backing, and thank you for your patience as the game development is dragging a bit longer than expected. I know how it feels!
Stay tuned for more updates soon!
