Moros is a disgruntled police detective in a deindustrialized city. The city is full of corruption and crime, all fueled by massive sales of a drug called juice. Juice makes users aggressive and unable to feel pain. It is the catalyst for the waves of violent crimes currently facing Bay City. Our main character decides to fight fire with fire by injecting the drug himself. Fueled by rage and juice, the ex military detective starts a one man war against the mob.
Here is a little taste of the book:
Moros has top notch art that truly brings readers into the world. The art is done by Indian artist, Tamal Saha. His lines are a perfect match for the dark story of the book. The colors are done by writer, Josh Lucas. The pencils, inks, and colors all come together to set the sweet mood in Moros: A Hard Boiled Hero! Check out some of the work here!
Short answer: a bunch of cool people! Long Answer: we have many fans. Some of our fans are long time comic book readers that find something in Moros that they don't find in ANY other book in the pull list. Some of our fans are old comic book readers that have not read in a long time. For these fans, Moros brings them back to a time when comics were more solid. Some of our fans do not read comics (accept for Moros of course). A lot of people see Moros as a stepping on point for their comic book habit It excites our team that there is something about Moros that brings new readers to comic. Maybe it is the fact that this is a new series with a clear jumping on point. Maybe it is because the story is unlike most comics. Either way, whether you read comics or not, we think you will LOVE Moros!
We think we have super awesome reward tiers. For as little as a dollar you can be on the Moros Kickstarter team! At ten dollars you can get digital copies of the new, in color issues 1, 2, & 3! From there the rewards only get better. We have T shirts, prints of original artwork, one of a kind signed original artwork, and a way to get your likeness on a cover! That's right, YOU could be on a MOROS COVER! Check out this chart and our videos to see which sweet reward tier works best for you! Every dollar counts!
There are a lot of people who help Moros get to the people! The story is the brain child of Joshua Lucas. He wrote the story for Moros over three years ago! Much of his time was spent trying to find the right artist for the book...
Tamal Saha is the artist that brings Moros to life on the page! He and writer Joshua Lucas found each other online. After a few conversation, it was clear the two would make a dynamite team! Tamal loves the hard core tone of the book and loves putting his pen to the book's violent images!
Friend of Joshua and fellow Crowd Funding user, Kris Wheaton helped Moros craft a marketing strategy and plan for it's Kickstarter campaign. He and his program, Quck Starter, has been a huge supporter of our Hard Boiled Hero!
A member of the Quick Starter program, Hannah helps the Moros team reach new fans and organize it's efforts. She is a high energy, very valuable member of the Moros team!
Risks and challenges
With going into color, we risk losing some fans that liked the book in black and white form. We had already reached a lot of fans and many liked the feel of the book in black and white. After a lot of thought and talking to people in the comic book industry, we realized the move into color would be a good move to widen our audience.
After a long delay between issue one and two, another challenge is re igniting the flame of interest in our project. We hope the delay has not lost us fans and even though we are focused on widening our audience, our first fans are still very dear to us.
There will also be the challenge of getting the prints looking great and printed on time, though after successfully getting our books out for the Indiegogo last year, we feel up to the task and ready for any curve balls!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
