About this project
What We Are Creating
This film explores dating similarities and differences by women from various age groups (20 to 60+). Their stories provide insight into modern urban women's perspectives, expectations and challenges and the unique benefits and hurdles that New York presents. Plus, it's just fun to hear dating horror stories and there are plenty of those! In addition, we will cover women who choose not to date and why this is the best decision for them.
Why We Are Passionate About This Project
Oftentimes the women presented on singles shows in the media are portrayed as rather one-dimensional and single-minded. Women are complex and beautiful in all ages and shapes and sizes and we want portray them in a realistic manner.
Where We Are At
I have self-funded four principal days of shooting of several insightful interviews with some fabulous ladies. We're off to a great start!
What We Still Need To Do
There are only so many hours in a day (and like most independent filmmakers, I also have a full-time job), so this funding will help to buy more hours by enlisting the help of experts, like this amazing crew who already donated lots of extra time and equipment to help make what we've currently assembled happen.
There are some more key interviews we need to shoot that are essential to the film: women over 60 in age; more diversity in ethnicities of subjects; single men; and the LGBT community perspective.
Additionally, the film will reveal some great dating do's and don'ts and provides insight as to what women are looking for in relationships.
Where Your Money Will Go:
$5,000- Four more days of shooting with key interview subjects listed above
$2,500- Kickstarter reward designations
$2,000- Graphics Animation and Archival footage usage
$3,000- Music Licensing and E&O Insurance
$2,500- Marketing and Film Festival submissions
Thank you for your support!
Risks and challenges
I have been a video producer for twenty years now and I can guarantee you that I always complete my projects on budget and deadline, no matter what hurdles come my way. When this film is funded, within the year, you will see a finished, professional and heartwarming film that you helped to create by lending your support.
The main challenge I see is in the promotion of the film. I would like to utilize social media and PR experts to help me see that important aspect through to completion. I think the topic lends itself to many creative promotional and sponsorship opportunities. I would like to create enough buzz so that in the future I can expand this to include other cities for a more global perspective on the topic of being single.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
