"The combos and chaos just keep coming."
Replay value 5/6, Fun 5/6, Player interaction 6/6 - play-board-games.com

If you're familiar with Stak Bots and just want to see the new expansion cards, scroll down to the bottom!!
Like each set before it, the Red box brings 60 game cards with 16 brand new Bots, each with a different function: some manoeuvre cards when they enter play, some destroy extra cards when they do damage, some have passive enhancements, etc etc. Used in combination, these different effects and abilities allow you to create weaknesses in your opponent's card arrangement and then take advantage of it to destroy them! This new Red set has a strong focus on the number of face-up cards in a Stak and the arrangement of them, and it mixes in perfectly with both of the existing card sets.
“Stak Bots is a hidden gem that you really should check out. It is a great filler for game nights and fun for families.” Player Interaction: 6/6. Overall: 5/6. - play-board-games.com
Players take it in turns to try to destroy each other's Bots. These usually start off face-down and by smashing your way through you slowly reveal the rest of them. The more you know, the better you can plan how to dispose of them.
An open turn structure allows you a lot of control on your turn to adapt to the other cards in play; build-up your Stak or desperately hunt down through it for that perfect card, then when you have all of the cards on the table setup perfectly from using your entry effects, attack your enemies directly and decimate them using your damage abilities.
With more than 2 players, do everything you can to bluff and bargain your way to victory; always make sure that someone else's card is a better target for attack and try to plan ahead for what each opponent might do.
“StakBotS is one of those rare games that almost demands to be replayed the minute you have lost.” - Card and Pixel Blog

Depending on how you like to play, a huge number of different game modes and toggles allow you to change the game from a casual surprising filler game with plenty of player interaction, to a perfect information tactical exercise.
The bottom number on the card shows the rank of the Bot. This allows players to deck-build and play off their decks against each other. Alternatively, if you are looking for a quicker game, just shuffle all the cards in together and share the draw pile!
We are about to launch our digital puzzle game 'Stak Bots - Breakout'!
It's currently in Greenlight for PC and Mac, so please show your support here too!
It will be available very soon on iOS / Android.
It allows you to play a new solo variant of Stak Bots, where you tackle 230+ preset battles to try to free your captured Bots. It'll give a flavour of the Stak Bots mechanics, but remember that it only represents one way of playing the game and you won't get a taste of the player interaction.
We also have our existing PVP async app on iOS; challenge your friends and take your turns when it suits you. Click the banner to try it.
Simply choose how many packs of Stak Bots you would like on the right, then when the campaign finishes we'll ask you which packs we should send you. If you want a different quantity from those specified, please send us a message and we'll advise! We've keep it down to just a few rewards for clarity's sake.
Each set comes with instructions on how to play as well as a number of different game variations and info on the different Bots in the set (please note the expansion sets only contain variation and Bot instructions, but the original rules are available online as a PDF here)
They can all be played stand-alone, but if you're new to the game then the original grey set is the best place to start. Once you're familiar with the core mechanics, you can start adding in extra cards from the other expansions.
The Original (Grey) Set
A great stand-alone set that contains everything you need to play the game of Stak Bots with up to 4 players.
60 Game Cards featuring 16 different Bot types, 4 Promo / Instructional Cards, Instruction sheet
The Yellow Expansion Set
If you want some more variety to add to the original set and to try out some ridiculous cards like Greedy Bot or Nano Bot, then you'll want to add this expansion to your collection.
60 Game Cards featuring 16 new different Bot types, 4 Promo / Instructional Cards, Game Variations sheet
The New Red Expansion Set
A whole new bunch of Bots ready to mix up the game. This many new cards also massively increases the potential for deck building!
60 Game Cards featuring another 16 new different Bot types, 4 Promo / Instructional Cards, Game Variations sheet
"The Red Expansion is a solid addition to Stak Bots, that skews more towards experienced players looking to change up the game and face new (and devastating) surprises." - unboxedtheboardgameblog.com
We have tried to keep the rewards as simple as possible - this time there are no extra posters, t-shirts etc etc: the production costs of these all come out of the money raised from the Kickstarter total, so to include these we would need to increase the funding goal, which is high enough already!
Get your very own unique Bot made up! It can be anything (within reason!), be it a game mechanic or just something... strange. Details are in the rewards on the right. Here are a couple of examples to get you thinking:
Want to get yourself some bonus cards?
Each backer who names you as the person that recommended them will earn both you and them a copy of Noisy Bot!
(They must pledge for at least one copy of the game and their pledges must go through at the end of the project. Cancelling and re-pledging doesn't count. I reserve the right to refuse you the bonus cards if you're doing something else sneaky that I haven't thought of!!)
So if you have 5 friends who you refer to back the project, you will have 5 copies of the card and they will each have one as well. All that needs to happen once they've pledged, is each of you message me with the other's name.
This game really thrives on word of mouth and it often takes someone's recommendation or demonstration for people to see through the simplistic appearance to the depth of the game beneath.
Noisy Bot - A sneak preview of the new 'wake' mechanic. When this card enters play, turn the highest face-down card of the chosen Stak to face-up! This not only lets you find out what card it is, it means it won't trigger once it gets to the top of the Stak.
As well as revealing cards and disabling entry effects, it is perfect for increasing the size of your Leader Bots. Or to find better cards to Levi or Ladder. Or bigger targets for Pulse, etc etc! Just don't use it on a Clumsy Bot!!
For each additional £500 above our initial goal, an additional Bot will be unlocked. Each pack will include a copy of every stretch goal Bot.
(Please note that due to the short-run printing process used for the stretch goal Bots, they will appear slightly shinier than the other cards. They are still perfectly usable in-game).
£5500 - First in line is Recall Bot!
Recall Bot was in the shortlist for the Red Expansion and its entry effect works brilliantly in combination with a lot of the other cards in the set. Fancy using that Spike Shot Bot again? Or saving up that big Elephant Bot to use later on when it's a bit safer? Well now you can.
£6000 - Next is the improved Spy Bot!
Since its first appearance as a stretch goal option in the 'Yellow' expansion kickstarter, Spy Bot has learnt when it should and shouldn't reveal cards! Use it to boost Leader Bots, get bigger groups to sink with Crevice Bot, or just to find out what's lurking in a Stak and then sit and look smug about it.
Meet the mighty medley of mechanical maniacs! Where possible we have included footage of the Bots from the Breakout game, so you can see some of what they're capable of!
This fiendish little scamp generates an EMP tuned to the frequency of the most powerful Bot (or Bots!) in play, regardless of where they are in their Stak.
When Juggler Bot enters play, it grabs the front 3 Bots of a Stak and deftly rearranges them into whichever position suits you best. No, it can't throw itself.
Armour Bot has crafted itself an extra thick second skin made from the husks of fallen Core Bots. It is so tough it can completely ignore the feeble blows and shots of weak Bots.
Harbinger of synchronous entry effects, Avalanche Bot creates a flurry of face-up cards, with a new one appearing atop every single Stak. It is so exhausted from conjuring up such chaos that play then passes to the next player to resolve the first new entry effect.
In basing the design of this Bot on its flesh and blood counterpart, an unfortunate side-effect was generated: an irrational fear of any Bot small enough to be a mouse, that causes the Elephant Bot to self-destruct when confronted! Power zero Bots have never been so damaging!
Here to give a helping hand to its Stakmates, Ladder Bot will force another face-up Bot in its Stak to rise to the top. Perfect for digging out specific abilities at a crucial time, but if there are no other face-up cards its invitation to ascend will fall flat.
As Pit Bot's larger and more manipulative sibling, Crevice Bot can drill up a crack in the ground large enough to swallow an entire front group of face-up cards. Why get rid of one problem card when you can get rid of all its friends as well?
A fearsome beast, Bounty Bot has the power to completely shift the balance of power in a game. Set it up to take down a string of weak Bots and you'll have a fistful of new cards to tinker with.
If you compact enough Spike Bots into a ball, it is possible to create a projectile prickly enough to replicate Spike's damage ability. Fire one of these at an opponent to eliminate two cards with one entry effect!
A generous gentle giant, Nice Bot will hand your opponent the gift of another card when it enters. Maybe they'll be less likely to attack you now?
When Shark Bot spys oil on the water, it moves in for the kill, destroying a damaged card when it enters play. Unfortunately, it doesn't distinguish between friend and foe.
Needy Bot absolutely hates being alone; it kicks up such a stink when it enters play that you're forced to silence it by playing another card on top of it. Another card like a Spur Bot for example...
If you can land a Bee on top of another of your Bots it will reset it, allowing you to use its effect a 2nd time later. If the Bee Bot has nothing nearby to sting, it will look elsewhere for a target and allow you to reset any other top card.
Like the other Leader Bots before it, Ram Leader will grow more powerful when placed with other face-up Bots. When it charges headlong into another Stak, the force of its collision will destroy the weakest surviving card in the Stak. But only if the card isn't stronger than the Ram. Yes it's complicated until you've seen it in action. Yes there will be example diagrams in the instructions.
Risks and challenges
This will be the 3rd set of Stak Bots that we have produced and we will be using the same printers, so we are very familiar with the process.
The Kickstarter rewards for the last expansion were delivered in full and on time, and we plan to do the same for this one.
Once the campaign has ended, the files go straight to Cartamundi for printing.
From there, depending on whether any proof revisions are needed, it will be about 6 weeks until we take delivery of the games. We'll get straight on with packing and posting them to you after that.
Stak Bots 'Live' -
Yes there is an outstanding project for the Stak Bots app; this hit a horrible string of complications with developers pulling out part-way through that was outside of our control, and we have been battling to get it to a releasable stage ever since. It has been an absolute nightmare and we thank you for your endless patience!
This is now being released as 'Breakout' with a cut-down feature list; we will continue to work on it until it contains all of the originally promised features. Its continued development will not impact on the fulfilment of this project.
