About this project
Our Tenth Season
We are celebrating our 10th Anniversary!! The Hudson Warehouse was founded nine years ago with the mission of providing classical theater for everyone. We are an outdoor theater company, located in the heart of Riverside Park, along the Hudson River in New York City. Audiences rave that experiencing our theater productions, against the backdrop of the setting sun along the Hudson River, is a thrilling and unique experience. And it’s FREE for all.
"We congratulate Hudson Warehouse on their 10th year presenting Classics to the public in Riverside Park. We are thrilled that they have made their home with us and hope they will continue to enchant Riverside Park's neighbors and all other guests with their theatrical mettle for years to come." -- Zhen Heinemann, Director of Public Programming, Riverside Park, New York City Parks Department, February 14, 2013
Risks and challenges
Because we are an outdoor theater company, we are subject to the elements, including extreme heat, rain, and hurricanes, all of which have had a direct impact on our scheduled performances. We have in the past had to cancel a performance due to weather. For instance, we had to cancel a performance of "The Seagull" (July 2011) because of weather advisory reports from excessive heat with a heat index of 115 degrees. We had to cancel the final performance of "The Taming of the Shrew" due to Hurricane Irene (Aug. 2011). Besides canceling shows due to rain, we have also stopped performances mid-show due to rain or thunderstorm.
Your donations will ensure that we can start off our season in June with "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)." This money will go directly to paying for costumes, props, rehearsal rental space, programs, posters, and actors' stipends for this first show. It's essential to get this funding to start off our 10th year.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
