How Kickstarter Works
People keep asking if they'll get charged $$$ if this doesn't happen. Let's clarify: No One Get Charged Any $$$ Until May 12th When the Project Is Successful
If we don't raise the money no one gets charged a single cent
at all. Kickstarter fund raising is all or nothing, no in between.

The first show funded completely by fans. You might wonder how is this possible? Are these bands REALLY playing this show? Yes.
Shane & Gabe have a dream.
A dream to host the raddest festival that ever existed (enter Mountain Man Fest)
And certainly the first of its kind in upstate New York.
However, Shane & Gabe have no money :(
So they worked their butts off and contacted a dozen plus talented bands. Some really big and busy bands. Some smaller but growing, and just as talented. Bands from this country, bands from the west coast, bands from abroad. They also contacted this Awesome record label
. Because they are best. After a couple weeks of confusion with said excellent bands and the label, they began to come to an agreement. The bands wanted to play the show, and they committed to play the festival without any money up front.
That is right. They are in. They are committed.
These bands are such good people, they're willing to trust that you awesome fans will raise the money to bring it all together. And together we will.

Some people seem to be confused at why it'll take at least $65k to successfully pull this off. Personally considering the lineup, I see $35 a ticket as a steal. Regardless, since You are all so kindly backing this project, I think you guys have the right to see the budget.
Here we go:
Saratoga City Center Venue rental, including staging: $3000
liability insurance from Adirondack Trust bank: $750-1000
Sound & lights support from high-peak sound for two stage setups: $4000
Security: provided by venue @ $15.75/hr per person for 12 hours, probably 10-12 people = $1,890 to $2,268
All bands playing fees, including headlining bands: Islands, Health, Real Estate, Phantogram total & Supporting Bands: Woods, Cults, Eternal Summers, Yip Yip, Memoryhouse, Summer Camp , Julian Lynch, Pill Wonder, Family Portrait = $48,750
Bar code scanners $250 X 2 = $500
Bar code generation software = $200 (we'll be creating out own tickets, emailing them to project backers, and scanning at the door)
Other expenses including materials for rewards, bracelets for participants to enter and leave venue, etc.: $2000
kickstarter 5% fee: $3,250
This brings us to approximately: $65,000
So no its not just some random number, there's a spreadsheet involved.
And certainly more expenses will come up, this is just to safely ensure the bare minimum so Shane & Gabriel don't go broke from this, got it? :)
Keep in mind, most of these bands are coming from very far away just to play just for you guys, the fans; including Summer Camp (London), Islands & Memoryhouse (Canada), Pill Wonder (Seattle), Yip Yip (Florida), Julian Lynch (Wisconsin), and Eternal Summers (Virginia). Festivals of this size have major expenses, Coachella and SXSW don't exactly post their budgets, and they have big corporate sponsors footing most of the bill.
Maybe we'll get some local vendors if we're lucky...But really we have you guys and our combined ambitions.
Make this count.
