I'm back on Kickstarter to bring you two more comics packed with all the adventure and monster-fighting action you've come to expect from the House of Fear series of complete, stand-alone comics for kids and adults.
In House of Fear: Teeth, young Mylie steals her brother's tooth from under his pillow, and the Tooth Fairy isn't pleased. When the evil witch seeks her revenge, Mylie must fight the aging sorceress or risk losing all of her teeth forever.
In House of Fear: Dead Lake, four boys head out on their first solo camping adventure. It turns ugly fast when they uncover the truth: there's a monster terrorizing the campground.

Just Announced: The Dark Horse Collected Edition
In May 2019, Dark Horse Comics is publishing a collected volume of House of Fear comics. The book will feature five complete spooky stories. That's 144-pages of kids vs. monsters.
How Scary Are these Comics?
I don't expect anyone to have nightmares from an issue of House of Fear. These stories are intended for kids, and while they have scary elements, they're closer to action/adventure stories than true horror. My goal with these comics is to let kids test their fears through fiction, and to do so in a fun, exciting way.
That's not to say that these are totally calm and peaceful either. With each issue, I try to add a scene that gives the story an edge. I want young readers to be so thrilled, that they want to come back for more.
House of Fear in Schools
In addition to writing comics for kids, I also enjoy talking to students about how comics are made and how stories shape our lives... even crazy monster stories. For the last two years, I've traveled to local schools to talk about creating comics. It never ceases to amaze me how excited kids get when they realize that someone actually writes and draws comics, and that they can do it, too.
But you can't talk about comics without handing out a copy when you're done, right? That's why, every time I step into a classroom, I bring a stack of House of Fear comics to hand out to the students. Doing so solidifies the discussion in their minds, and (hopefully) keeps them motivated to try creating their own comic.
With every comic purchased during this Kickstarter campaign, I'll print an extra copy to hand out to a student in one of my sessions in 2019. I've even created a Classroom Ambassador reward tier for those interested in supplying a stack of comics for an entire classroom.
Meet the Creators
Our two new House of Fear comics were brought to you by a team of talented, passionate creators...
James Powell - The Writer - Creator of House of Fear, James has written and edited comics for various publishers, including Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics, and Red Stylo Media. He is currently wrapping up his first novel for middle grade readers, tentatively titled, Santa's Claws.
Jethro Morales - The Penciler - Jethro started in comics back in 2009 and has been working his way up in line with the big league artists and has solidified his skills along the way by taking on popular titles like Vampirella, Dejah Thoris, and Green Hornet. And now here on House of Fear!
Mike Erandio - The Inker - A comic veteran who’s been in the local comic scene in the Philippines since the 80s, Mike now works alongside Jethro as inker for the House of Fear series. He brings a decade of honed inking skills.
James Hislope - Boyle Intro/Afterword Artist - James is an illustrator, cartoonist, and caricature artist who also happens to have a knack for drawing comics.
Josh Jensen - The Colorist - Living colors from Tokyo, Japan. Josh is the colorist for all six issues of House of Fear. Check him out on Twitter.
Matt Krotzer - The Designer and Letterer - Matt gives voices to characters and sound to action. His stellar lettering work has been seen in the pages of Image, Dark Horse, and many fine independent comics around the world.

Why Kickstarter?
I'm coming to Kickstarter to raise funds for an offset print run of 1000 copies for each of theses two issues. Printing offset means buying in bulk, which is costly, but doing so ensures the highest quality possible. It also reduces my costs per issue, which helps turn a profit at conventions or with online sales. Increased profits means I get to make more comics!
By using Kickstarter, I also can reach more people than I could by any other means. I want to get these comics into as many hands as possible so kids around the world can discover the joy of testing their fears through fiction.
Where do the Funds Go?
The funds we earn through Kickstarter will be used to print the comics ($3500), ship the rewards to backers ($2000), and pay Kickstarter ($500) for hosting the campaign.
Any extra money earned from the campaign will help pay for future issues of House of Fear.

Risks and challenges
I've done everything I can to minimize risk for backers. Both comics are 100% complete, and the printer is waiting for the files to get the presses running.
There is always the chance that printing delays will get in the way of intended delivery dates, but I am committed to having the book and other rewards in your hands by the time listed in the reward description.
