About

Hiltz Squared Media goes behind the food in “Farming Humans”

Imagine you wake up in a cage. You are gaining consciousness in a pen no bigger than an airline’s overhead storage bin and you’re hunched over, unable to fully extend your neck without smacking into the top of this enclosure. You’re boxed in with others like yourself, men and women with no sense of where they are, dazed from the lack of proper food and water left to wonder if that smell – that terrible, awful, miasma drifting lazily through the air – is really that of human feces, or if it’s just the rotting remains of what they deemed fit for your consumption. You’re elbow-to-elbow with your neighbors, trying to jostle for what little free space there is.

Developed by Hiltz Squared Media, “Farming Humans” is a six part exclusive documentary that takes twelve volunteers and puts them in the hooves and horns of our fair-feathered friends and their farmyard ilk.

Hiltz Squared Media takes aim at this gulf in our understanding, taking our twelve and putting them through the riggers of being prepped for slaughter. For two weeks, Playboy Playmates-turned animal rights activists, the Barbie Twins, as well as Word Class Doctors and established experts will keep a close eye on them, observing their reactions to the physical and mental stresses that animals go through everyday on factory farms and massive feedlots.

Our story begins with a brief disturbing but realistic background about how animals are treated on many farms throughout the world. As well, each of our volunteers is administered psychological and physical examinations by our top notch doctors and psychiatrists prior to the experiment. Our world class health care team provides us insight into what we may expect to see from these individuals. Before the experiment begins, the show brings its focus back to our volunteers, providing back-stories from their childhood to present day, through photos, interviews and video footage of themselves and their friends and family. As well, we discover why are they willing to do this.

“Farming Humas” will subject three groups of volunteers to the conditions faced by three different animals: chickens, cows and pigs. As each day passes, they will experience the changes that come with malnutrition, sleep deprivation and impossibly close-quartered confinement. When our experiment is complete, these volunteers – and the viewer – will never be the same again.

Recently, we have added Simone Reyes to our team! Simone is a very well known animal activist and is starring in Oxygen's television series, "Running Russell Simmons".

Risks and challenges

When it comes to the documentary "Farming Humans", the production will be fully insured and prior to the filming, the series breakdown will be approved by lawyers. As well, all of the volunteers will have signed legal waivers which will inform them of all potential risks involved.

As seasoned producers we realize the importance of not starting to film until 100 percent of the budget is raised.
