The portland peg is a simple wooden hook for jackets, bags, hats etc. Its design allows you to place your bag on the back rest of the hook and a coat on the peg. The portland peg is handmade with New Zealand grown Macrocarpa wood.
woodie (a.k.a. woodhook's little brother) is smaller than woodhook (90mm diameter or 3.5 inches) and made especially for ukuleles, children's guitars, hats, coats or bags - in other words, if you aint got a uke get a woodie for your hoodie! The woodie is handmade with New Zealand grown Macrocarpa wood with a choice of wooden or translucent acrylic rests.
The idea of woodhook came when I began to search for a wall mount for my mother’s guitar. I could only find functional objects. I wanted something that had simple and elegant lines like the instrument that would rest upon it.
I also wanted something that looked beautiful on the wall, after I removed my instrument. So Terry made woodhook!
Woodhook is made with NZ grown Macrocarpa wood sourced from a local Sawmill, a business which has been in the family for generations.
Each woodhook is finished by hand and oiled with organic tounge oil. Your instrument is held safely by the wooden or acrylic rests that sit at a 5-degree angle of repose.
Woodhook can also be placed on an angle to hold an electric guitar.
In addition to 3 standard sizes for the guitar, banjo and ukulele, each woodhook can be custom made to fit the unique measurement of your instrument’s neck – at the end of Kickstarter we will send instructions on how to measure your instrument's neck and we will ask for your neck size prior to delivery.
You will have a choice of WOODEN, ACRYLIC or BRONZE rests. The wooden rests are made from New Zealand grown macrocarpa. The translucent acrylic rests comes in the following colors: clear, blue, red, green, yellow, orange & purple (we will ask for your choice prior to delivery).
There are 75 woodhooks available with bronze rests - one of the most noble metals - be quick as we are sure these beautiful pieces will be very popular.
Woodhook, woodie & portland peg come flat packed and put together by the user in 2 simple steps (instructions, screws & wall plugs included - suitable for masonry walls, dry wall or timber walls).
The concealed screws are situated behind the rests. The rests are inserted after the screws have been fastened.
This is where we need YOU. By supporting our project, you are essentially pre-ordering from our first collection, and enabling us to raise the funds to meet minimum production volume requirements.
This type of brand requires an involved community to grow and testing our product with you and the Kickstarter community will support our efforts.
Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully funded or no money changes hands. If funding fails, all pledges are cancelled and that's that. Your card is not charged.
However, with your support we anticipate beginning to ship woodhook to our backers as soon as end of March (the handcrafted woodhooks will be shipped January 2014).
We are very excited to make the leap from creation to production - and can't wait to share this wonderful experience with you!
Help us spread the word and please share it with your friends. A huge THANK YOU in advance!
We have the design, tooling and logistics in place for the production of woodhook, however we need funds to kickstart a viable quantity. We want to offer woodhook at a fair price and retain the high-quality standard.
If the funding campaign proves successful we will be able to place large orders for all the necessary materials: wood, acrylic, packaging.
Either click the green “Back This Project” button or click on a woodhook reward. You will be asked to input your pledge amount and select a reward. From there, you will go through the Amazon checkout process. It’s fast and simple. Note: Rewards are USD.
Yes, and we want to! We are starting with $10,000 on Kickstarter because we think with the all-or-nothing approach we can raise that amount. But, we feel woodhook is unique and we want it to be available to anyone who has a guitar, banjo, ukulele or hat to display.
Yes and Yes! Just click on the Amazon Payment Button and you will see that you can pay with a credit card from any country! But you must finish the Amazon checkout process for your pledge to be recorded. If you have any problems just contact us.
YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your reward. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in and click “Manage Your Donation” button & change your reward choice.
PLEASE spread the word about woodhook in your community by broadcasting our Kickstarter campaign through Facebook, Twitter, email and word of mouth. Please do this as often as you can. We are so grateful!
