Rio Babe International is making a World's Fair! w/ Fashions! Music Videos! Parties! A Parlor! Local Artisans! @ Bay Area Now6!
Rio Babe International @@ Yerba Buena Center for The Arts
We were recently picked to participate in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts highly anticipated and prestigious triennial art show Bay Area Now6 as a singular artist. We are excited and honored; yet ultimately concerned about funding for this rare oppourtunity. Our past two gallery shows were fully funded by our personal savings, but this route is no longer sustainable.
The YBCA has reformatted Bay Area Now to include fewer participants (17), which gives each artist a larger installation space, greater exposure, and the ability to create something extraordinary. We are fully prepared and excited to put our all into this rare opportunity.
Our last two solo shows were completed in the span of 3-6 months with a budget of approximately $5,000 dollars each. We are hoping that with the help of additional funds we can attempt more in this time span while also improving the quality of our work.
RIO BABE INTERNATIONAL PRESENTS THE WORLDS FAIR @ BAY AREA NOW6
The space will be dedicated to RBI’s version of The World’s Fair for 2011. Rio Babe International will borrow the concepts of nation re-branding, space revitalization, showcasing the international, cultural exchange, publicizing new technologies, and promotion of the best of the local climate.Collaborative works are essential to Rio Babe’s constant utilization of production, curation, and design. This particular show will rely on RBI’s “zoning” of local artisans in an international conversation. We plan to collaborate with artisans, musicians, designers, floral specialists, and contractors for event planning and the fabrication of custom objects such as furniture, lighting, sculptures, and custom fashions.
