Leaky Roof Meadery
A bit about us and how we plan to utilize our Kickstarer
Leaky Roof Meadery will be producing a line of 6.5% alcohol carbonated honey wines packaged in 16fl cans and kegs! By utilizing a wildflower honey as our base fermentable, we create an amazing base canvas. We then add real fruit, spices, and varietal honeys to enhance the beverages flavors.
We plan to make an impact on the agricultural industry in America by helping create more of a demand for local honey, fruits, and spices. We use no artificial flavoring or preservatives and our beverages are gluten free!
L.R.M. has been working at a sprinting pace to get opened in 2013. Due to interest in our products from Missouri and Arkansas distributors outpacing our original projections, we have quickly realized that the canning line we had budgeted for is undersized and will not allow us to launch Leaky Roof to all of our supporters and fans across the Ozarks for quite some time. We here at Leaky Roof work hard to spread the word about mead to the Ozarks and to support our local homebrewers and winemakers. We are always humbled by the support and praise we have receive from beer and wine makers and enthusiasts across the Ozarks and firmly feel that without their support we would not be endeavoring to open so ambitious a project. Our goal is to raise funds to purchase a semi-automatic or even fully automatic canning line in order to facilitate packaging enough product to bring mead to anywhere in the Ozarks where they are thirsty for it.

Risks and challenges
Our project goal entails the purchase of a higher-speed canning line with greater automation. This presents us, as a company, with two distinct challenges. The first is that with greater automation comes a greater challenge to a team's mechanical capabilities. Fortunately Mr. Rock and Mr. Steiger are highly experienced packaging technicians. Mr. Steiger gained his first experience with industrial equipment servicing newspaper presses. Besides that he is an accomplished diesel mechanic and has extensive experience with beer packaging equipment from his roles in the packaging departments at Mother's Brewing Company and White River Brewing Company in Springfield. Mr. Rock has completed the packaging module of the London Institute of Brewing and Distilling's General Brewing Diploma, has attended the Master Brewers Association of the Americas Packaging Technology course and has extensive experience working with beer packaging equipment from his role as Packaging Manager at Mother's Brewing Company and White River Brewing Company.
Our second challenge is that with higher capacity comes a need for greater responsibility and operating with the utmost efficiency. In this respect we are again fortunate in the extensive experience of our technicians, whose pride in their professions has them eagerly looking forward to the challenge.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
