We decided to make Metalshark Bro because we wanted to do something that was crazy, but still fun. Comics as a medium can still be insanely fun, if we let them be. We brought Metalshark Bro to Kickstarter because trying to prove to the existing comics market that a comic can be different but still marketable isn’t an easy task. We were told there was no way to market it. We want to prove them wrong and we need you to help us do that.
Metalshark Bro is a 100+ page paperback comic. At least 88 pages of story and a slew of pinups from some of the most metal talent in the comic bizness. There will be cursing, violence...oh sweet, bloody violence, but there will be no nudity or sex, maybe innuendo. Like Deadpool, if he was eaten by a shark and it was all scored by shredding guitars.

That's what it is, but what's it about...
Off the coast of Bali, a shark is chillin' and looking for a bite to eat. Enter Beelzebra, the douchey nephew of Satan. On a whim, this douche interrupts this chill fish, transmuting him into a heinous anthropomorphic shark with a penchant for brutal murder. Thus is born METALSHARK BRO! All caps 'cause it's so damn METAL!
Our boy, MSB, finds this situation totally heinous and not agreeable in the least. Beelzebra promises to return Metalshark Bro back to normal if MSB collects (i.e. straight up kills) some sell-your-soul contract breakers.

MSB is down with that, hunting and murdering ain't nothing new to him. So off he goes, tracking down the poor saps and they're going down like groupies. Things are going as smooth as a power ballad until our finned fiend tracks down some old dude who lives at the top of some huge cliff. Cliffs of Insanity huge. MSB thinks this dude's going to be another pushover, but this pesky old bat is schooled in black magick and forces Metalshark Bro into a LSD-inspired battle across the ether! Fear and Loathing in Mordor!
Even with all his wizard-y powers, he's no match for MSB and is severly slain. With his work done, MSB can almost taste the sweet, salty sea. However, Beelzebra, douche-bag supreme, goes back on his promise and refuses to return MSB back to his natural fishy state. Naturally, our hero vows revenge against his treacherous creator. That's when things get really crazy!
It's a classic shark meets demon, demon transforms shark, shark vows vengeance on demon story.
We're talking eyeball monster wearing bowler hats, minotaurs, shield-maidens, necromancers, giant robots, and so so much more. Team Metalshark Bro is bringing the ruckus! And we want you to be a part of it!

THE HISTORY OF METALSHARK BRO
Metalshark Bro was born on the long and desolate highways of West Virginia. In the early hours of a brisk and foggy October morn, a weary writer by the name of Bob Frantz hears a radio DJ read a news story about scientist placing speakers blasting AC/DC in water to gauge the reaction of sharks. An idea went off like a bomb in Bob's skull. Bob frantically phoned his friend and co-writer, the majestically bearded Kevin Cuffe to discuss this revelation! Over the next 7 hours, the two men giggled like stoned teenagers as the saga of the demonic, half-man, half-shark killing machine ravaged their sleep-deprived minds!

The two writers knew their idea was just dumb enough to work, but they needed an artist to bring the idea to life! Not just any artist, mind you! This project required a powerful artist. One that works in dynamic lines and vibrant colors. The duo knew only one artist could handle such a mighty task! His name was Walter Ostlie!

Team Metalshark Bro pleaded with the ancient comic gods to send them a worthy editor and letterer to help them further shape their tale of woe and revenge. The wise ones answered with letterer/editor Shawn Greenleaf and editor Chas Pangburn, thus rounding out the creative team.

Not only can you get the most metal shark comic ever created, but you can also get these fine products! Don't forget these prices include domestic US shipping! Hell Yeah!

We're asking for a crap ton of money to make this book. Comics ain't cheap. We're not going to get rich off this Kickstarter. This money will allow us to produce the book, print the book, buy merch, ship the book, and slide a little green to Kickstarter. That's it though. No hair metal mansion or Whitesnake Jaguars here.

Bob Frantz - Writer - Fav Metal Band: Motörhead - Bob has been self-publishing comics since 2008 starting with the release of 41, a gritty/post-apocalyptic western with collaborators Pablo Peppino, Alexander Singleton, and Hoyt Silva. In 2014, he switched gears and created the all-ages romp Monty the Dinosaur with artist and friend Jean Franco. Bob has stayed busy with the 2016 release of The Elvis Adventures with artist Rachel Ordway and letterer Micah Myers as well as 2017's Full Moon Fredo with artist/co-creator Angela Sprecher and letterer Shawn Greenleaf.

Kevin Cuffe - Writer - Fav Metal Band: Anthrax - Kevin is a Williamsburg, Virginia based comic writer. Kevin's work was also featured in the If Anthology from Alterna Comics and the public domain anthology Not Forgotten.

Walter Ostlie - Artist - Fav Metal Band: Slipknot - creator, writer, and artist. He's created the properties Haxor, Shiver Bureau, and Cubicles. Not only did he self published Shiver Bureau and Cubicles, but Haxor is being published by Webtoon and Shiver is being re-published by Scout Comics. Walter has also worked as an art-slinger for hire on Is'nana, Small Favor, Alter-Life, and Descension. When he's not all up in the comics, he is spending time with his wife, son, dog, and cat or attempting not to break his wrists while skateboarding in the hot Florida sun.

Shawn M. Greenleaf - Letterer - Fav Metal Band: GWAR – A reformed East Coaster now living in Seattle, Shawn is a freelance letterer, editor, graphic designer & book production manager. He’s worked on a plethora of indie comic titles such as Escape from Jesus Island, Oathbound, The Infernal Pact, Astropunk, Cthulhu Williams: Monster Hunter, Full Moon Fredo, and many more (with even more in the works). When not working he can be found playing board games, tabletop RPG gaming, or catering to his high maintenance diva of a cat, Lucy’s every need.

Chas! Pangburn - Editor- Fav Metal Band: The Dillinger Escape Plan - After spending the majority of his twenties working in video production, he discovered that writing was his true love. Chas dropped everything, went back to school, and in October of 2013, he graduated from Full Sail University. There, Chas received a Creative Writing Masters MFA with a focus on comic scripting. He was dubbed Valedictorian and received the Advanced Achievement Award (the highest accolade the school offers—only one student per graduating class receives it). That counts for something, right?
That's the end.

Risks and challenges
When you are playing around with this much metal, there is a chance things can get heavy. Heavy metal.
But we have all the tools needed to fight back the tidal waves of lame.
We've collectively launched several kickstarters, printed thousands of books, and shipped a crap ton of books all over the world. Yup, our stuff is worldwide.
We hate being lame and wieners, so if something does go wrong, we don't go in the corner and cry. NO. We come on Kickstarter and cry... I mean, we tell you what is going on in a professional manner with little to no tears.
