We are doing a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to buy equipment to launch the Golden O maple syrup brand. We intend to ship our first Golden O syrup in the first few months of 2015, but need to raise the funds to buy, install and test the equipment. We are offering to supporters a number of fun and exciting rewards... including the opportunity to get your maple syrup at a price lower than retail. We are raising $12,640 which is what is required to acquire an evaporator, hoses and buckets. You can learn more about us at www.GlenfordFarms.Org
Glenford Farms of Ohio is a maple syrup operation that taps Maple trees only in the great Buckeye state. We are members of the Ohio Maple Syrup Producers Association. The name Glenford Farms comes from the tiny town in Ohio where my dad was born and where Daughertys have lived for over 200 years now. Our great, great, great, great granddad, Barnard Daugherty was born in Hopewell Township in 1799, four years before Thomas Jefferson signed the order making Ohio the 17th state of these great United States. Hopewell is near Glenford where the Daugherty family took up making maple syrup those many harvest moons ago.
The family recipe was passed from Barnard to Rezon to Noah to Rome to Harold and now to me Robert or as my family calls me, Bobby. As a kid, my dad Harold, or as his friends call him Doc, made a lot of maple syrup on the farm. He became the first in our family to go to college and he eventually became a high school teacher and basketball coach. He has long since retired and only recently shared his memories about making maple syrup and most importantly… the family recipe. From this we launched Glenford Farms of Ohio. Someday, I will share the family receipt with my children Jackson, Ben and Ella. In the meantime, we intend to keep it in a safety deposit box in a bank in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
It is important for us to share that Glenford Farms of Ohio is a social benefit organization, meaning we are committed to serving all of our stakeholders. Similar to organizations like Whole Foods Market and Patagonia, the purpose of Glenford Farms of Ohio is to create general public benefit as defined as a material positive impact on society. The success of Glenford Farms is solely a function of the enjoyment of those who indulge in our maple syrup. After paying our monthly bills, we use the remaining resources of our organization to make charitable donations – primarily to organizations focused on supporting girls’ education in developing countries.
One final thing to share, we are proud of Ohio and its long tradition of producing some of the best maple syrup in the world. Ohio has also produced some amazing people like the first guy to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong, the guy who invented the light bulb, Thomas Edison, and even a pretty good pro basketball player who used to play in Miami. Ohio has also produced six presidents of the United States – no place is perfect. In our video blogs, we intend to tell you even more about Glenford Farms and Ohio’s amazing people… and as my dad said recently, “there must be something in the maple syrup in Ohio” to produce so many great folks.

Risks and challenges
The goal of this project is to launch the Golden O brand of maple syrup.
Creating and shipping a product to customers is something that could result in unexpected delays, but we have built that into the timeline. We are very confident we will be able to deliver this project, as described, to our backers.
