Welcome to The Loop Kickstarter!
The Loop is a CSU Northridge Senior Thesis Film, written and directed by Moisés Perez. It is a visually and conceptually engrossing film unlike any previous CSUN thesis. We are taking you through an imaginative and visceral experience with this film, and we hope you can help make that happen!
The story follows a Latin-American woman named Misol who has immigrated to America from Mexico. Although she is financially and materially successful, she feels disconnected from her past and out-of-touch with her heritage. Her grandfather passes away and upon his death, he speaks some last words to Misol, but in an ancient Aztec language she does not understand nor can easily look up. We stand alongside Misol in her journey through space and time to find out what her grandfather's last words were, and through that process rediscover who we all are.
Nice. How can I help?
Your donations are greatly appreciated and will help fund the production costs of our film! Depending on your pledge amount, you will receive special rewards from us which you can find just to the right. Kickstarter is all or nothing -- you will not be charged unless we reach our goal of $3500 within our allotted time. However, if we meet or surpass our goal, we will be funded fully, you will receive your incentives, and our film is a step closer to reality! This film aims to create awareness of the importance of our heritage and identity in an ever-changing world, something every viewer can find a personal connection through.
Where is this money going exactly?Your donation directly contributes to our production costs. This includes:
- Film stock purchase
- Camera, audio, grip, and electric equipment rental
- Location permits and insurances
- Props and production design
- Film processing, TeleCine digital transfer, final 35mm film print
- Post-production sound processing and sync
- Casting director hire, talent amenities, craft services, transportation
These costs make a total of nearly $30,000. We have each made a personal contribution, and CSUN reaches out to non-profit organizations such as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to help fund these projects. Our film has also been chosen by the post-production facility giant FotoKem to receive a grant to help fund our processing and transfer fees! However, widespread budget cuts make it a difficult process to reach close to that projected cost, and fundraising is more important now than ever to keep independent filmmaking and art intact.
Production is conducted in a professional manner and within all industry-standard safety guidelines. We are passionate about our craft and intend to deliver a professional-caliber short film technically and creatively that we want you to be a part of! After production, we will continue to throttle our film through distinguished festivals and events internationally, on which we will keep you updated. Thanks again, we appreciate it!
