100% funded! We did it! YOU did it! With plenty of time to spare, too. So, we keep moving forward:
Stretch Goal #1 - If we reach $4700, everyone who backed for a physical reward will receive one of the hand-made cards we're offering. Those of you who are already getting a card will have an additional one added.
New backer reward:
For $20, you can receive a SEEDs t-shirt. Sizes up through 3X. T-shirts can also be added to your existing pledge. Just increase your pledge amount by $20, and we'll add a shirt to your existing backer reward. (A survey at the end will let you tell us what extras you want, and what sizes if you're getting shirts.)
New LIMITED reward:
For $350, an engraved metal plaque, dedicated to you or a person of your choice, will be affixed to one of our new machines. Yep, you get naming rights. Additionally, our SEEDs students will make you one of the denim purse/laptop bag on YOUR machine, and send you photos of the work being done.
We've also updated the $500 pledge. We've expanded the lessons from one lesson in one day to 15 hours, with blocks of time to be scheduled after the project is done. That's lessons in jewelry, woodworking, ceramics, and of course, sewing.
UPDATE ON INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING AND PLEDGE LEVELS: As a first time project owner, I have learned two things in arranging for International backers to be able to pledge. First, is that if the pledge level is set for "US only", then backers not in the US can't select those options. Second, I've learned that if someone has backed at a particular level, that level can't be changed, except for quantity. So, I have created (US and International) pledge levels, and marked the limited ones as "sold out". If you are in the US, any open pledge level will work for you. International backers should choose the options marked as such. We appreciate your patience through this adjustment. NOTE: all existing pledges are unchanged. If you've already backed, you can change to a different level (preferably a higher one, of course) or leave it as is.
SEEDs for Autism is an innovative program in Phoenix, Arizona that connects local artists with young adults on the autism spectrum, to teach vocational and life skills, while fostering a strong sense of community and resiliency. Guided by their mentors, SEEDs students design, create and produce a wide variety of marketable art products from doggie castle beds to sophisticated beaded jewelry to metal sculptures.
SEEDs' Fiber Arts Department is our newest addition. We work from donated fabrics and upcycle thrift store garments. The department has been working with donated sewing machines, some of which are over 40 years old. They break down frequently, and are expensive to repair. Many times, there are not enough working machines for all students to use.
Your pledges will go towards buying several sewing machines and a serger, with maintenance contracts to ensure that they stay in good working order. We would also like to buy thread, fabrics, and accessories. This will allow our students to create a broader range of products, such as purses, tablet cases and seat cushions.
As our way of thanking you for your pledges, we are offering a variety of the SEEDs products created by our students. Because these items are all handmade, there will be some variation in designs. For more information on SEEDs for Autism, and to see examples of the great work done by our students, visit http://seedsforautism.org, or see our SEEDs Facebook photo albums of more products for you, your home, and even your pet. There are more examples of rewards backers can receive below the descriptions.
Note: If you'd like to have more than one item, just pledge for the combined amount. We will send out a survey at the end for all backers, at which time you'll be able to clarify which pledge levels you want.

Risks and challenges
The SEEDs folks are seasoned pros at making the jewelry and items being offered as rewards. The rewards are not dependent on the new equipment, so they can be fulfilled upon completion of the project. If we exceed our goal by a considerable amount, there may be some extra time needed to fulfill the greater number of rewards.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
